The European Tour heads to Italy this week for the Italian Open where Bernd Wiesberger will look to defend his title. This year’s Italian Open will be different than a year ago, as there will be no fans and the prize pool will be much smaller. The field will also be weak, as no top players are in the field. Matt Wallace is listed as the favorite at odds of 9-1. Let’s look at the Italian Open odds and picks.

This tournament will be played at Chervo Golf Club in San Vigilio di Pozzolengo, Brescia. The venue will host the tournament for the first time. The course opened 12 years ago and is a parkland course located about 20 miles from Brescia.

Favorite
Matt Wallace 9-1
It should only be a matter of time for Wallace to get a win, but I don’t like taking favorites and I don’t think Wallace is worth betting at anytime at single-digit odds so I am not taking him this week.
Value Plays
Victor Perez 11-1
You can make a case that Perez should be the favorite this week. He won his first European Tour title last season and he lost another event in a playoff. He looked good two weeks ago but couldn’t quite get past Tyrrell Hatton at the BMW. He has moved up the rankings and is now in the Top 100 in the latest World Golf Rankings. He is up to No. 6 on the latest Race to Dubai standings and he is not without a chance to finish in the top spot. I will take Perez as my top choice this week.
Bernd Wiesberger 14-1
You will hear this a lot from me this week when it comes to the Italian Open; the field is simply not that strong. There are no standout players in this event, so why not a repeat for Wiesberger? He definitely knows how to win and I see no reason he can’t defend his title and his odds are decent at 14-1.
Jordan Smith 22-1
Smith has won three times on the European Tour in his career and he is playing well with a seventh at the Irish Open and a 13th place finish at the BMW. He has not won since 2017, but this event doesn’t have a great field and Smith could very well be in the mix this week. He ranks 7th on the European Tour in Shots Gained: Tee-to-Green and if he gets his putter going, he can win this week.
Matthew Jordan 33-1
Jordan has been playing well with six top 20 finishes this season. He is still looking for his first win, but as I said with Smith, the field this week is nothing special and there is no reason a player like Jordan can’t win.
Chris Paisley 40-1
If you want a player who excels around the green then look no further than Paisley. He ranks very high in statistics around the green and he has some value this week at odds of 40-1.
Jorge Campillo 45-1
Perhaps Campillo has turned the corner. He had four missed cuts but then last week he tied for fourth in Scotland. It wouldn’t take much for Campillo to be right in the mix and we get odds of 45-1.
