UFC Fight Night 96 - Betting Guide and Predictions

Main Event

Bantamweights - John Lineker vs. John Dodson

Current odds: Dodson -120, Lineker +100. Over/Under  o2.5-110

Odds update: Dodson -127, Lineker +107, Over/Under o2.5-121

UFC Fight Night 96 OddsNo. 5 ranked bantamweight John Lineker (28-7, 13 KOs, 4 SUBs) will meet former flyweight title challenger John Dodson (18-7, 9 KOs, 2 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 95 on October 1, 2016 at the Moda Center in Portland Oregon. The fight is expected to be televised on FS1 starting 9 p.m. ET.

John Dodson and John Lineker are living proof that 135-pounders can pack dynamite in their fists. Despite their short statures - Dodson is 5’3” and Lineker is 5’2” - the pair owns 22 knockouts between them.

Dodson vs. Lineker is the perfect solution for a weight class that has had trouble attracting viewers. Along with the dynamite they bring into the cage, they bring the blinding speed and jaw-dropping athleticism that defines the bantamweight division. What’s more, Lineker’s high-ranking puts him in line for a title shot should he get past Dodson.

The pair will serve as the main event to a solid Fight Night card in Portland. Let’s take a look at some of the more intriguing fights you can bet on.

Lightweights - Will Brooks vs. Alex Oliveira

Current odds: Brooks -270, Oliveria+210. Over/Under o2.5-180

Odds update: Brooks -302, Oliveria +252. Over/Under o2.5-200

Former Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks made a successful UFC debut, dispatching veteran Ross Pearson to extend his winning streak to nine. Now, he’ll go into hostile territory to face the athletic Alex Oliveira, who is coming off a win over James Moontasri at UFC on FOX 20.

The story here is how well Brooks can perform against the Brazilian “Cowboy”, who is an underrated fighter in a deep division. Based on his championship credentials, Brooks has a clear path towards the lightweight title picture, and he’s been vocal about getting big fights against ranked opponents. Oliveira is neither, but he’s respected veteran who could easily buzzkill Brooks’ ascent.

Featherweights - Adre Fili vs. Hacran Dias

Current odds: Dias -165, Fili +140. Over/Under o2.5-230

Hacran Diaz was suppose to fight Brian Ortega.  Ortega is out and Adre Fili is in.

Dias is coming off a loss to Cub Swanson, but at No. 10 he’s a high-level gatekeeper to the featherweight elite. A submission savant, Hacran’s BJJ poses a compelling threat to Ortega’s wrestling-heavy approach.

Flyweights - Brandon Moreno vs. Louis Smolka

Current Odds: Smolka -205, Pettis +165. Over/Under o2.5-165

Hacran Diaz was suppose to fight Brian Ortega.  Ortega is out and Adre Fili is in.
