Featherweight - Chan Sung Jung vs. Dennis Bermudez
There might not be a better, more fitting nickname for a fighter than “The Korean Zombie.” The guy just keeps pressing forward, no matter how hard he gets hit. He’ll take blows that would sleep another man, and somehow reanimate himself and chew away at his opponent with every strike and submission technique in the book. His balls-to-the-wall style of fighting has made him a bona fide star, and fans are ecstatic to see him back in the octagon.
Bermudez can be just as entertaining, as he is a big featherweight who moves quickly, hits hard and takes foes down with punishing authority. While his offense is spectacular, his defense is suspect, setting up a matchup where both men are in line to take ridiculous amounts of punishment. This is gonna be bloody good fun.
UFC Fight Night 104 Korean Zombie vs. Dennis Bermudez Prediction
The UFC’s loaded featherweight division is set to welcome back a popular former contender. “The Korean Zombie”, Chan Sung Jung, will return to the octagon after serving a mandatory two-year stint in the South Korean army. It’s a drastically different landscape than the one he left, but the former title challenger will jump back into contention against No. 8 ranked Dennis Bermudez. Continue...
Women’s Strawweight - Alexa Grasso vs. Felice Herrig
Grasso is one of the best prospects in a red-hot strawweight division, and she’s got an extremely fan-friendly style to boot. At just 23 years old, she is already a superb striker who lit up a vet in Heather Jo Clark in her UFC debut. The Mexican fighter, behind her athleticism and crisp kickboxing, appears destined for a top-10 ranking sooner than later.
Felice Herrig is another such vet, though a tougher one than Clark. After getting handled by Paige VanZant, “Lil’ Bulldog” took some time off to get right - and it appeared to have helped. This past July, Herrig secured a first-round rear naked choke over Kailin Curran to re-establish her place as a stout divisional gatekeeper. Now, she gets a chance to play hype spoiler.
UFC Fight Night 104 Grasso vs. Herrig Prediction
Alexa Grasso will look to build on a successful UFC debut in a matchup with veteran Felice Herrig at UFC Fight Night 104 this Saturday. Already projected to be a contender by year’s end, Grasso can graduate from prospect status with a convincing win over the respected veteran. Continue...
Light Heavyweight - Ovince St. Preux vs. Volkan Oezdemir
OSP is in a tough spot. Just 1-3 in his past four, the former interim title challenger is in dire need of a win to stop a two fight losing streak. He’s too good to be considered a mid-tier guy at 205, but at 33 he might have to deal with the reality that he might never be a contender again. The former Tennessee linebacker has a good chance to get back in the win column against Volkan Oezdemir, who most definitely is a middle-of-the-pack fighter.
UFC Fight Night 104 Ovince St. Preux vs. Volkan Ozedimir Prediction
Coming off the worst loss of his career, former light heavyweight title challenger Ovince St. Preux will look to rebound against newcomer Volkan Oezdemir this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 104. Though OSP is still ranked No. 6 in the division, a loss to a rookie would be his fourth in five fights - and send him plummeting from the contender ranks. Continue...
Lightweights - James Vick vs. Abel Trujillo
In the crowded lightweight division, it takes a lot to get noticed. Even a threer-fight winning streak doesn’t say much, as Abel Truijillo is finding out. But at 33, he appears to have found a second wind at 155 and can extend his run to a can’t-ignore four straight wins. He’ll meet James Vick - who has won nine of his last ten fights - in a clash of well-rounded fighters vying for top-15 positioning.
UFC Fight Night 104 James Vick vs. Abel Trujillo Prediction
Abel Trujillo is a slight favorite against James Vick at UFC Fight Night 104 on Saturday in Houston on FS1. The fight is one of six on the main card that is headlined by Dennis Bermudez taking on Chan Sung Jung. There are also six fights on the preliminary card with four on FS1 and two on UFC Fight Pass. The fight between Trujillo and Vick looks to be a good matchup with Trujillo coming in at 15-6 while Vick is 9-1. Let’s look at the fight, UFC betting odds and UFC picks. Continue...
