The UFC is introducing a new women’s division with a featherweight title fight between former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and kickboxer Germaine De Randamie. Conspicuously absent from the night is the Cris “Cyborg” Justino, long recognized as the best women’s fighter in the world. It’s likely that the savage Brazilian will be tabbed for the winner’s first title defense.  The rest of the card is filling out nicely, with established contenders and rising prospects slated to fight on pay-per-view. Let’s take a look at what the night has in store.

Main Event

Women’s Featherweight Championship: Holly Holm +100 vs. Germaine De Randamie -119

While it’s difficult to think that this title bout will provide anything more than a placeholder champion for Cyborg, on paper it’s a compelling style match between two high-level strikers. Holm is one of the most decorated women boxer in the sport’s history, and became a star with a flawless performance that shattered Ronda Rousey’s invincible aura.

Randamie is a former kickboxer, hailing from the Netherlands - a nation with a long, storied tradition in the sport. Watching her trying to pick apart Holm’s footwork will be the storyline of the bout.

Light Heavyweights: Glover Teixeira -191 vs. Jared Cannonier +162

Cannonier is a welcome addition to a division starved for new talent. Massive, agile and explosive, “The Killa Gorilla” is riding two straight wins since dropping down from heavyweight. We have to a chance to see exactly where he stands in a matchup against Glover Teixeira - a perennial top-10 fighter who is coming off a title eliminator loss to Anthony Johnson.

One would have to expect a knockout going into this matchup, considering just how hard both guys sling leather. The UFC would love to add Cannonier to the title mix - there is dire need for fresh blood at the top.

Lightweights: Dustin Poirier -445 vs. Jim Miller +350

For a minute, it looked like Dustin Poirier was about to throw his name into the crowded title picture at lightweight. But a first-round knockout loss to Michael Johnson has knocked him down a few rungs at 155. Now, he’ll face a resurgent Jim Miller, who has won three straight. The best part is that both men have multiple Fight of the Night awards, setting the stage for an epic trenchfight.

Other Fights on the card

Middleweights: Anderson Silva +120 vs. Derek Brunson -140

Middleweights: Tim Boetsh +405 vs. Ronaldo Souza -525

Welterweights: Randy Brown  -130 vs. Belal Muhammad +110

Featherweights: Jarrend Brooks -110 vs. Ian McCall -110

UFC 208 Odds: Holly Holm vs. Germaine De Randamie Prediction

It’s tough to really legitimize this Saturday’s inaugural women’s featherweight title fight when Cris Cyborg isn’t involved. Basically, we’ve got two highly ranked bantamweights, former champion Holly Holm and Muay Thai striker Germaine de Randamie, fighting for a title shot that feels unearned.

Still, a belt is a belt. It’s enough to make a matchup a main event of a pay-per-view, and despite our reservations, the UFC is committed to a 145-pound division. The cream will rise to the top at some point. For now, let’s take a look at your UFC betting options at BookMaker.eu and break down the fight. Continue...
