The Valspar Championship golf tournament, formerly known as the Tampa Bay Championship, Chrysler Championship and Transitions Championship, gets underway March 9-12, 2017. You can catch all four days of action on the Golf Channel and NBC.
The title sponsorships have changed over the years but one thing has remained constant and that is that Innisbrook Resort - Copperhead Course has been the host since the inception of the tournament in 2000.
Copperhead was designed by Larry Packard in 1972 and the layout looks more like a northern course than it does a Florida course. Tree-lined fairways and rolling terrain that plays 7,340 yards from the tips and is defined by its three finishing holes, known as the “Snake Pit.” Every year it plays as one of the toughest tracks on the PGA Tour.
Last year’s winner Charl Schwartzel will be joined by Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and a host of other top players from around the world in what should be another exciting tournament in the Tampa Bay area.
The PGA Tour heads to Innisbrook Resort for the Valspar Championship and a so-so betting field that includes four of the top 15 and eight of the top 30 in the current Official World Rankings.
Defending champion Charl Schwartzel +3500 is joined by Justin Thomas +1100, Bill Haas +1750, Daniel Berger +1900, Patrick Reed +2750, Gary Woodland +2000 and Charles Howell III +3000. Continue...

Canadian Adam Hadwin survived a late scare to claim his maiden PGA title with a one-shot win at the Valspar Championship in Innisbrook, Florida.
The 29-year-old, who carded a round of 59 in January, began the final round with a four-stroke lead.
But he put his tee shot into the water at the 16th, made a double bogey and was tied for the lead at 14 under.
However, Hadwin parred in for a level-par 71 and Patrick Cantlay bogeyed the last to finish second.
