NFL Tennessee Titans Betting Odds & Predictions
Tennessee Titans Season Preview / 2017 NFL Tennessee Titans Odds
After winning nine games and coming close to ending their postseason drought last season, the expectations have skyrocketed for the Tennessee Titans. They may well be a playoff team come January, but they sure didn’t look like one in their opener, falling at home to the Raiders for the second straight season, this time by a final of 26-16. Now it’s on to Jacksonville, hopefully, for a Week 2 AFC South tilt with the Jaguars.
The Titans drafted receivers Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor to help diversify the offense and give it more pop. The two combined for eight catches with Davis hauling in six for 69 yards in his debut. But the Titans’ bread and butter is the run game, and that part of the equation was missing in the opener. DeMarco Murray ran for 44 yards, Derrick Henry added 25 yards and they totaled just 95 in the game. For the Titans to be successful they have to set the tone up front with their physical play and they couldn’t do that against Oakland.
Tennessee had its chances but scored just one touchdown in three red zone drives. Settling for three points instead of six can be the difference between winning and losing and the Titans feel they let one get away. It also didn’t help that an onside kick to open the contest wasn’t recovered, giving the Raiders a short field. The defense couldn’t stop Oakland and the Titans fell behind 7-0 just over two minutes in. They eventually tied the game, but never led. It’s wait and see now. The league may reschedule the Week 2 contest in Florida after Irma leaves the area and the situation can be properly assessed. Mike Mularkey is preparing his team to play at the regularly scheduled time.

Week 1: Raiders 26, Titans 16
ATS Result: Raiders +2.5
Over/Under Total Result: Under 49.5
As good as the Titans are at running the football they struggled to score in the red zone against the Raiders, twice settling for field goals after getting inside the 20-yard line. Those additional points would have allowed the teams to reach the total, but the Titans still came up short as 2.5-point favorite. They fell behind early after failing to recover an onside kick to open the game and never had the lead, though the game was tied twice in the first half.
Tennessee Titans Pre-Season Game Results
Preseason Record: 1-3
ATS Record: 1-3
Over/Under Total Record: 1-3
Tennessee did everything but win the game when they met the Raiders last season. The Titans flexed their muscles in the trenches running for 181 yards and they kept Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack out of the backfield. They also shut down Oakland’s passing attack, holding Carr to just 249 yards in the air. But three costly turnovers and failure to produce in the red zone was their downfall in a 17-10 loss. After an uneventful preseason, the Titans need to turn it on against one of the AFC’s best teams.
