NFL Sunday Night Football Prediction - SNF Cowboys at Raiders Odds

NFL-Football-Betting-Lines

No sport has command of one day like American Football has on Sunday. The NFL and Sunday are synonymous with each other throughout the fall months and into winter. It’s a day football fans relish and eagerly await all week long.

Sunday also offers fans a coup of betting opportunities with the vast majority of teams suiting up on that day from September to January.

Of course, with so many games, it’s hard to keep up with the NFL betting odds, injuries and trends you need to know to build that bankroll, but that’s were Gamblers Palace comes in keeping you up to date with all the information you need to know from the first kickoff to the last play on Sunday night.

The best game of the week is typically showcased on Sunday Night Football, which is why the program has become one of the most watched in NFL history. The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) has aired a primetime game on Sunday night since 2006 and has boasted marquee matchups nearly every week, bringing the weekend of NFL football to close in exciting fashion. To make sure football fans are treated to the best games on Sundaynight, the NFL offers flexible scheduling for the featured matchup, guaranteeing the top teams compete every week and a great opportunity to earn that last bit of extra cash in the day’s NFL betting action.

This Week’s Sunday Night Football Game - Sunday, December 17, 2017

The best game of the week is typically showcased on Sunday Night Football, which is why the program has become one of the most watched in NFL history. The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) has aired a primetime game on Sunday night since 2006 and has boasted marquee matchups nearly every week, bringing the weekend of NFL football to a close in exciting fashion. To make sure football fans are treated to the best games on Sunday night, the NFL offers flexible scheduling for the featured matchup, guaranteeing the top teams compete every week.

Both teams still have hopes of making the postseason, but the path for the Oakland Raiders got substantially more difficult after losing in Kansas City on Sunday. They’ll look to get back on track with a Week 15 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, who are hanging by a thread. If the Cowboys are to return to the postseason, it would be as a wild card after the Eagles snatched the NFC East with a win last weekend. Even if one of these teams wins out, it isn’t guaranteed a playoff spot. But a loss on Sunday will snuff out their slim chances.

The Raiders appeared to be in a good spot after winning two straight games to climb into a tie with the struggling Chiefs and a game this past Sunday in Arrowhead. But the Raiders never showed up in an inexcusable performance with so much at stake. Getting Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree back in the lineup should have given the Raiders offense a lift, instead Derek Carr threw for 69 yards through three quarter, Crabtree was a non-factor and Cooper was back on the bench after reinjuring his ankle. They at least avoided being shutout by scoring 15 fourth quarter points to make the score look closer than the game actually was.

The Cowboys took care of business by not reminiscing with Eli Manning and thumping the Giants in what was supposed to be a contest to decide the NFC East winner. The only problem was that the teams never obliged, though the Cowboys remain alive. Dallas needs plenty of help to reach the postseason for a second straight year, but they also need to help themselves. Adding to the intrigue of this matchup is the fact that they just don’t play each other that often. They’ve played three times since realignment in 2002 and haven’t played in Oakland since 2005.

Dallas Cowboys at Oakland Raiders

Location: Oakland Coliseum, 8:30 p.m. ET ( NBC )

Opening Line: Cowboys -1, O/U 45

Preview: The Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys are both in the same relatively unenviable spot at this point in the season. Both teams are still breathing in the playoff race, but winning out is probably the only path to get into the playoffs. That effectively makes their Week 15 in "Big D" a de facto elimination game, yet it'll probably only serve as the first step in a mountainous climb back to the rest of the playoff pack. Continue...

SNF Betting History

Sunday Night Football was started by ESPN who covered it from 1987 through the 2005 season before taking over on Monday Night Football and turning Sunday’s football action over to NBC.

Thanks to the Sunday night action, we know have a full day’s worth of football gambling to keep us occupied. Sunday Night Football is always the most watched and wagered on game of the week.

Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth return to the booth on Sunday night again for NBC in 2017 while Michele Tafoya will again roam the sidelines.

While every NFL game is on a big stage, Sunday Night Football allows the nation to come together at the end of a busy day in the NFL to watch one game as a nation. While streaming content has caused many shows to take a ratings hit, the NFL continues to see ratings grow. They’re up nearly four million over the last decade.

This season, New England and Arizona kick off the action on Sunday Night. Both teams have had their share of appearances in the primetime game since NBC took over the broadcast. The Patriots have 26 appearances to the Cardinals’ 10.

New England’s 26 appearances pale in comparison to 34 for Dallas, but it’s the Patriots who’ve recorded the most wins on Sunday night, going 17-9 in Sunday action.

Some teams, such as Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Cleveland, Los Angeles and Oakland, don’t often make it into the Sunday Night Football lineup. The aforementioned teams have each appeared on Sunday night just once since 2006. With a number of teams having limited appearances, it’s no surprise there are eight teams that haven’t won a Sunday night game since it’s been under NBC’s control. What is surprising, however, is that the Bengals, Chiefs and Lions are among them. Those three teams are 0-10, 0-6, and 0-5 respectively, on Sunday’s eve.
