Matthew Macklin says he’s determined to be the man to end Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez’s reign as World Middleweight Champion. Last year, Macklin was beaten by Felix Sturm in somewhat controversial fashion. Alot of people believe, Macklin won the fight despite Sturm's late storm. But even though he lost the fight, Macklin impressed enough people to earn him a shot at the WBC Diamond middleweight title and will now battle pound-for-pound ace Sergio Martinez.
Sergio Martinez, defended his WBC Diamond middleweight title, when he previously beat undefeated EBU middleweight champion Darren Barker (23-1-0, 14 KOs) by KO at 1:29 of round eleven in October, 2011 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Barker, fought behind a high guard and closed the distance making it hard for Martinez to counter punch. Finally in round ten Martinez hurt Barker with a right hook and then in round eleven, Martinez put Barker down on the canvas with a right. Barker tried to get up on his feet by the count of ten but failed.
