NFL Week 6 Football Lines - 2017 NFL Betting Predictions

NFL Week Six PredictionsWho doesn't like a good underdog story? There are plenty of them to choose from in Week 6 of the NFL season, as there are a whopping five teams who are facing double-digit point spreads. In today's day where parity rules the roost, it's unusual to see so many teams favored by so many points.

However, if potential squash matches involving the Jets, Browns, 49ers, Dolphins and Giants don't interest you, perhaps we can whet your appetite with a few of the other great games on the docket.

For starters, this might be the best Thursday nighter left of the season. The Panthers and Eagles are both 4-1 heading into this showdown, and they're both capable of making some real noise in the NFC. That said, both have yet to prove that they can beat any of the truly elite teams in the conference, something that can be overcome on NFL Thursday night. Cam Newton and the Panthers are laying a field goal at home, proving just how tight these two teams really are.

There are also two games that are set at a pick 'em to open up in Week 6. The Bucs and Cardinals don't make for the most appealing game, especially with as poorly as the Cards have been playing and the Buccaneers have been kicking, but the end result could be intriguing down the stretch.

The more notable pick 'em game might be Jacksonville and L.A. The Rams and Jags are two of the most hyped teams in the league for the near future, as both have a slew of young players who are just starting to grow into their roles. Both teams feel like they're still miles behind the very best teams in the NFL, but both have shown recently that they could be construed as playoff contenders. The winner of this one will be 4-2 and at least tied atop their division with 10 games left to play.

There are also a couple crucial divisional games on tap, including Green Bay at Minnesota and Tennessee at Indianapolis. The latter game will be played out on NFL Monday Night Football. With Andrew Luck looking to return in the next couple weeks, the Colts could be really dangerous if they can just hang in there and steal a game or two in division, especially on the road. The chance to beat the Titans with a hobbled (or inactive) Marcus Mariota is too good to pass up.

But maybe the game of the week is a rematch of the AFC Divisional Round playoff game between the Chiefs and the Steelers. Kansas City has already picked up huge road wins at New England and Houston this year, and it can keep the corks on the 1972 Dolphins' champagne bottles it it can exorcise the demons of last season's two losses to the Steelers.

NFL Thursday, October 12, 2017

Philadelphia Eagles at Carolina Panthers, Bank of America Stadium - 8:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Panthers -3, O/U 45

Preview: A battle of first place teams is set to go down in Week 6 on Thursday night when Carson Wentz and the NFC East leading Philadelphia Eagles hit the road for the fourth time this season to square off against Cam Newton and the NFC South leading Carolina Panthers. This clash set to go down on Thursday Night Football will give NFL bettors more insight as to just how good these current division leaders truly are. Continue...

NFL Sunday, October 15, 2017

Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans, NRG Stadium, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Texans -9, O/U 44

Preview: The running joke that continues to be the Cleveland Browns will hit the road for the third time this season in hopes of tallying the franchise’s first win of 2017-18. Unfortunately, they’ll be running up against a resurgent Houston Texans outfit in Week 6 that enters fresh off getting their teeth kicked in by a better Kansas City Chiefs squad. These teams have met eight times in franchise history with the Texans winning and covering five of the meetings. Continue...

New England Patriots at New York Jets, MetLife Stadium, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Patriots -9, O/U 47

Preview: Look whose back atop the AFC East standings! That’s right, the current frontrunners to win Super Bowl LII otherwise known as the New England Patriots. The defending champs will look to take one step closer towards snagging sole possession of first place within the division in Week 6 when they head to Gotham to battle a New York Jets squad they’ve flat out owned in winning eight of the last 10 meetings. But will they cover? Continue...

Miami Dolphins at Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Falcons -10, O/U 47.5

Preview: The Atlanta Falcons will hit the gridiron in Week 6 refreshed and ready to go following their bye. Whether they return fully intact remains to be seen. The Miami Dolphins will invade Hotlanta with a little spring in their step after putting an end to a two-game losing streak by disposing of the Tennessee Titans in their home opener. While the win wasn’t pretty, it was sorely needed. Both of these teams have much to prove in their first meeting since 2013. Continue...

Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: Saints -3, O/U 51

Preview: The Detroit Lions will be thrilled to once again hit the highway where they’ve won and covered each of their two played road games to date. However, the injury bug has really taken a toll on Jim Caldwell’s roster, and it remains to be seen if the defense will have enough able bodies to thwart the offensive explosion certain to be thrown their way in Week 6 by a hungry New Orleans Saints squad that will be out to build on the two game win streak built up before going on bye. Continue...

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: Check Back Later

Preview: The Green Bay Packers came up with one of the more exhilarating wins of the season last Sunday when they stormed back in the final minute to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat against the Cowboys. While it wasn’t as exciting a win, the Minnesota Vikings also took home a last second triumph when they kicked the field goal to beat the division rival Bears on Monday Night Football. The winner of this match will have a leg up at winning the NFC North. Continue...

Chicago Bears at Baltimore Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: Ravens -7.5, O/U 41.5

Preview: The Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens have only crossed paths on the gridiron four times this century. This Sunday in Week 5 will mark the fifth time with the Mitch Trubisky era hitting the road for the very first time. The rookie did a decent job in his NFL debut against a tough nosed Minnesota defense, but it will only get harder for the youngster this week with Terrell Suggs and company licking their chops over the prospects of schooling the youngster in a big way. Continue...

San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins, FedEx Field, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: Redskins -10.5, O/U 46.5

Preview: The Washington Redskins will be out to get above the .500 mark when they return to the playing field in Week 6 to battle the winless San Francisco 49ers. Jay Gruden’s squad went into its off week after incurring a disappointing loss in Kansas City on Monday Night football, while the Niners came oh so close to logging their first win but ultimately ended up dropping another heartbreaker in overtime at Indianapolis. These teams last met in 2014. Continue...

Los Angeles Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars, EverBank Field, 4:05 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: Pick 'Em, O/U 44

Preview: Fresh off an impressive 30-9 beat down in the Steel City, the Jacksonville Jaguars will attempt to not suffer a letdown when they return home in Week 6 to battle the Los Angeles Rams for the first time since 2013. Los Angeles comes off a tough home loss to division rival Seattle, but will enter this tilt confident knowing its already 2-0 both straight up and against the spread on the road after taking down the Cowboys and 49ers in a pair of exciting matchups. Continue...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals, University of Phoenix Stadium 4:05 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: Cardinals PK, O/U 44.5

Preview: Due to one of the more horrific displays of ineptitude by a kicker, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had no shot of pulling the home upset of the defending champion New England Patriots last Thursday night. Nick Folk has since been released to likely never get a job in the NFL again. The Bucs will make the trek to the desert in Week 6 to take on the struggling Arizona Cardinals. Hopefully their kicking game is on point this time around. Continue...

Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Chiefs -4, O/U 47

Preview: The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 6 as the only unblemished team in the league both straight up and against the spread. They’re the darlings of the NFL right now and will no doubt be receiving a ton of love this week with Andy Reid’s squad out to avenge last year’s playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It should be money in the bank as bad as Mike Tomlin’s squad has looked at times this season. Right? Continue...

Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders, Oakland Coliseum, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Check Back Later

Preview: One of the most underappreciated rivalries in the NFL is set to write another chapter in Week 6 when Phillip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers invade the Black Hole to run with the hated Oakland Raiders. The Bolts logged their first dub of the season in exhilarating fashion last week in the Big Apple, but will be hard pressed to repeat that feat this week versus the silver and black who were embarrassed on their home turf by the Ravens. Continue...

New York Giants at Denver Broncos, Sports Authority Field, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC)

Opening Line: Broncos -9, O/U 41

Preview: One of only three winless teams in the NFL, the New York Giants will hit the road in Week 6 to take on the Denver Broncos without the services of their entire wide receiver corps. With the club simply unable to run the football, it goes without saying that this could be one of the ugliest showings of the season for Eli Manning and company against the Broncos vaunted “No Fly Zone” defense. Continue...

NFL Monday, October 16, 2017

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium, 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Check Back Later

Preview: With the entire AFC South looking up in the standings to the Jacksonville Jaguars, this Week 6 concluder on Monday Night Football is crucial for both the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. The former will be out to tally its first win and cover away from Lucas Oil Stadium, while the latter will be thrilled to get back into the comforts of its own stadium after dropping back-to-back road tilts in embarrassing fashion each of the last two weeks. Continue...
