Save for a couple noteworthy matchups in Week 17 from years past, the final week of the regular season has normally been one NFL bettors detest. With teams resting starters or coaches limiting playing time, it came off like games from the preseason. The NFL wanted to change that up, and by all accounts, they just might be on to something. All 16 games lined on the betting board will match division rivals up against one another. Even if the games have no playoff ramifications, the fact that they’re rivalry games will still reel in some intrigue.
Finally, something the NFL got right! If only defenses could play defense once again, we’d be onto something!
While no game has been scheduled for the Sunday nighter, you can be sure NBC will select one of the games going in Week 17 that finds either team trying to reach the playoffs or improve their seeding. Regardless, the afternoon slate is loaded with pigskin betting action. Some of the notable matchups include the Panthers and Saints locking horns in the bayou, the Cowboys and Giants getting it on from MetLife Stadium, the Bengals and Steelers colliding in the “Ketchup Bottle” and the Jaguars and Texans locking horns at NRG with the AFC South title possibly on the line.
The afternoon slate has been reserved for the west coast teams with the Chargers and Broncos getting it on at Mile High, the Niners and Rams duking it out for Cali supremacy, and the Cardinals and Seahawks squaring off in front of the “12th Man.” All three matchups could find the division title on the line; so again, the NFL got it right by lining up every matchup within the division in Week 17 NFL betting action.

Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Minnesota -4, 41.5
Preview: It’s a win and get in scenario for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17 when they close their home schedule out against the division rival Chicago Bears. This presents NFL bettors with a tough question to answer with Chicago more or less locked into the No. 3 seed in the NFC. Matt Nagy has already stated that his starters will be playing in this game. How long that remains the case remains to be seen, and it will ultimately depend on how quickly the Rams get out in front of the 49ers. Chicago hasn’t swept Minnesota since the 2011-12 season. Continue...
Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints, Mercedes-Benz Superdome – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Check Back Later
Preview: Only pride is on the line when the New Orleans Saints host the Carolina Panthers in Week 17 of the NFL season. Carolina is 6-9 and has no chance of making the playoffs after collapsing down the stretch, while New Orleans is 13-2 and has already clinched homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. The Saints have won the last four meetings between these teams and knocked the Panthers out of the postseason last year, so even a moral victory would be nice for Carolina at this point. Continue...
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium – 4:25 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Baltimore -6, 41.5
Preview: Two of the more exciting rookie quarterbacks the NFL has to offer will lock horns in a pivotal matchup at offshore sportsbooks in Week 17 when Baker Mayfield and the scorching hot Cleveland Browns tango with Lamar Jackson and the playoff hopeful Baltimore Ravens. Both AFC North reps have closed the season on a roll which makes selecting a side to back in this tilt filled with playoff ramifications a tough task to decipher. Cleveland snapped a five game losing streak in pulling out the 12-9 outright win and cover in overtime back in Week 5. Continue...
Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos, Sports Authority Field at Mile High – 4:25 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Los Angeles -4, 41.5
Preview: The Los Angeles Chargers fate in the upcoming playoffs all depends on what the Kansas City Chiefs do against the Raiders in Week 17. If they win or tie, the Bolts will have a shot at winning the AFC West division title and home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs so long as they defeat the Denver Broncos. Regardless of what happens, the Chargers have already locked up a bid in the second season. That could make for some exciting live betting opportunities to prop up, so keep an eye on how the Chiefs game is going concurrently. Continue...
Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium– 8:20 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Indianapolis -2.5, 44
Preview: With the Houston Texans battling the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the day, both the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans will know if the AFC South championship is still in the cards when the division rivals collide at offshore sportsbooks under the NBC lights in the final Sunday Night Football telecast of the season in Week 17. Even more important, the winner of this game will ultimately punch their ticket to the playoffs. Though the Pittsburgh Steelers are praying for a tie, the Titz will be eager to avenge that ugly 38-10 loss at Lucas Oil Stadium from when these teams went at one another back in Week 10. Continue...
