Four weeks of scrimmages are finally a thing of the past. It’s time to put the woman and children to bed and go looking for dinner! Week 1 of the 2018-19 NFL betting season has arrived, and the schedule makers have hooked all of us up with a tasty opening slate of games.
Kicking things off in the inaugural Thursday Night main event will be the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles who disposed of the Atlanta Falcons en route to winning the franchise’s first ever Lombardi Trophy last February. All Gamblers Palace sportsbooks will have a full course of betting lines, totals and proposition wagers made available for the season kick-off.
Another notable Week 1 matchup finds Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers going into the Twin Cities to square off against the Minnesota Vikings and their brand new quarterback. Kirk Cousins had one of his best games of the season against San Francisco last season, so you can bet your bottom dollar Kyle Shanahan will let his defense know all about it leading up to kickoff.
The Houston Texans and New England Patriots played to a wild 36-33 final last year in a game both Deshaun Watson and Tom Brady each threw for over 300 yards. If the former Clemson standout is deemed healthy enough to go in Week 1, another shootout is likely. Gamblers Palace linemakers are of that belief after opening this game with the highest total on the Week 1 betting board.
The Kansas City Chiefs have flat out owned their division rivalry with the Los Angeles Chargers winning each of the last eight meetings. They won and covered both skirmishes last season. That’s something Philip Rivers and company must rectify if they’re to not make linemakers look foolish for installing them favorites to win the AFC West. The Bolts haven’t beaten the Chiefs at home since 2013.
The Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football prime time matchups on NBC and ESPN pit the Chicago Bears up against the division rival Green Bay Packers, the New York Jets against the Detroit Lions, and the Los Angeles Rams at the Oakland Raiders in Jon Gruden’s return to the Silver and Black.

Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles, Lincoln Financial Field – 8:20 p.m. ET ( NBC )
Opening Line: Eagles -4, 47
Preview: As has been the case for a number of seasons now, the defending Super Bowl champs will get first crack at the NFL betting odds when the Philadelphia Eagles open their 2018 campaign up from the Linc on Thursday night. An opponent they held on to beat to earn the city its first ever title stands in the way with the Atlanta Falcons out to avenge last year’s division round defeat. Continue...
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns, FirstEnergy Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Steelers -6.5, 47
Preview: Pittsburgh cruised to the division title by winning 13 games and going 7-9 against the spread. Most impressive was Mike Tomlin’s squad going 7-1 away from the Steel City ( 4-4 ATS ) along with showing marked improvement on the defensive side of the ball.Continue...
Cincinnati Bengals at Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Colts -3, 46
Preview: Coming off a four win season that saw upper management cut ties with the previous regime, the Indianapolis Colts enter their 2018 NFL betting campaign looking to once again become a force within what looks to be the ultra-competitive AFC South. Shockingly, the Cincinnati Bengals decided to hold onto Marvin Lewis for another year after being non-factors the last two with no playoff wins to show. Continue...
Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Titans -1, 45
Preview: Even though the Tennessee Titans got back to the playoffs for the first time in ages last season, the entire coaching staff was shown the door. That paved the way for Mike Vrabel and his newly retooled coaching staff to get a crack towards leading the franchise back to the promised land. Adam Gase enters a make or break season after the Miami Dolphins took a major step back last year.Continue...
San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Field – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Vikings -4.5, 46
Preview: One of the most intriguing games of Week 1 NFL betting finds Jimmy G and the San Francisco 49ers invading the Twin Cities for a tussle with the Minnesota Vikings who are one of the favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIII. The Niners closed last season with their hair on fire, but we’ll now get an excellent opportunity to see just how far they’ve come against a team that came up a win short of reaching the biggest game of the season.Continue...
Houston Texans at New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Patriots -6.5, 51
Preview: The New England Patriots shockingly lost in Week 1 to the Kansas City Chiefs as decided home favorites on the NFL odds last season. That seriously can’t happen a second straight year can it? Guess again! The Houston Texans are legit Super Bowl contenders so long as they’re able to stay healthy. Continue...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints, Mercedes-Benz Superdome – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: NO -9.5, 49.5
Preview: The New Orleans Saints will be chomping at the bit to get back onto the NFL betting gridiron after the way their season ended in the playoffs against the Vikings last season. That miracle catch and touchdown run Stefon Diggs pulled off still makes me sick to my stomach every time I see it.Continue...
Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Giants, MetLife Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Jaguars -3, 43.5
Preview: What an unreal ride the Jacksonville Jaguars took NFL bettors on last season! Doug Marrone’s troops will take to the MetLife Stadium gridiron in Week 1 looking to build upon their surprise campaign that saw them come a single win short of going to the Super Bowl.Continue...
Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium – 1 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Ravens -3.5, 42.5
Preview: No. 1 draft pick Josh Allen will not be under center when the Buffalo Bills square off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 of the NFL betting season. That no doubt takes away some of the luster for Bills fans. Instead, Nathan Peterman will get the starting nod, and if you remember his showing against the Chargers last season, there could be blood regardless of how well he played in the preseason when it meant absolutely nothing. Baltimore’s defense is likely salivating over the prospect of what might be. Continue...
Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers, StubHub Center – 4:05 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Chargers -3, 47.5
Preview: The Kansas City Chiefs have swept the season rivalry from the Los Angeles Chargers each of the last four seasons. That’s one of the main reasons why Philip Rivers and his mates haven’t felt the thrill of participating in playoff football since 2013. Many expect the Bolts to have a major say in the AFC race to the Super Bowl this season. Continue...
Seattle Seahawks at Denver Broncos, Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium – 4:25 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Broncos -2.5, 42
Preview: The Legion of Boom is no more. Beast mode isn’t punishing opposing defenses out of the backfield. The window of opportunity for the Seattle Seahawks to routinely compete for Super Bowl championships has been slammed shut. The Denver Broncos have badly been in need of a quarterback since Peyton Manning hung up his cleats. Continue...
Washington Redskins at Arizona Cardinals, U of Phoenix Stadium – 4:25 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Cardinals PK, 44
Preview: The world will be tuning into FOX for the afternoon slate to take in the return of one of the best running backs the game has to offer; none other than Adrian Peterson - Totally Kidding! David Johnson is once again healthy and the NFL, as well as those attacking the pro football betting lines, are better off for it. Continue...
Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers, Bank of America Stadium – 4:25 p.m. ET
Opening Line: Panthers -3, 44
Preview: It’ll be Dak Prescott running up against Cam Newton in Week 1 NFL betting when the Dallas Cowboys lock horns with the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Big D didn’t make much of any noise this past offseason. In fact, it was super quiet after the whirlwind that was the Ezekiel Elliott saga hogged all the headlines going into last season. Continue...
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field – 8:20 p.m. ET ( NBC )
Opening Line: Packers -8, 48
Preview: Aaron Rodgers flat out owns the Chicago Bears! With him under center dating back to 2013, the Green Bay Packers are 7-2 SU and 7-2 against the NFL betting lines. Heck, he missed the second meeting last season and the Cheeseheads still found a way to win the game; in Soldier Field no less. With that, the Packers enter NBC’s Sunday Night Football telecast heavy favorites to defeat their hated rivals regardless of the fact that John Fox and his band of misfits will no longer be roaming the sideline. Continue...
New York Jets at Detroit Lions, Ford Field – 7:10 p.m. ET ( ESPN )
Opening Line: Lions -6.5, 44.5
Preview: The Matt Patricia era is set to kick off in Motown in the first installment of ESPN’s Monday Night Football doubleheader when the Detroit Lions host the New York Jets. Neither of these teams qualified for the playoff last season, and the odds are against both from doing so in 2018. Continue...
Los Angeles Rams at Oakland Raiders, Oakland Coliseum – 10:20 p.m. ET ( ESPN )
Opening Line: LAR -3, O/U 48.5
Preview: What on god’s green earth was the Oakland Raiders front office smoking to willfully send their franchise player to the Bears? The move came as quite the shock to current Oakland players as well as the fan base, and it remains to be seen if the move takes away from the team’s ability to hang with Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams who will be looking to build upon an excellent 2017 campaign. Continue...
