PreSeason Football Odds - 2017 NFL Betting Insight
Pre Season NFL Betting Insight 2017 - Week One Pre-Season Football Odds
It’s only the preseason and we won’t get a good look at our favorite players on our favorite teams until the dress rehearsal in Week 3, but it’s the start of football season and the Hall of Fame Game between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys on August 3 will kick of the 2017 season. That matchup will be televised by NBC at 8 p.m. ET and will be the first of several preseason matchups to hit the national airwaves.
The preseason always brings us intriguing matchups, position battles and rules changes to watch out for once the regular season begins, and those are always worth watching. The biggest change for teams during the preseason is the roster cut down. The NFL eliminated the middle step, which required teams to trim their roster from 90 to 75 players between Weeks 3 and Week 4. Now, team rosters are to be cut to the 53-man limit after the final preseason game. This will make the final preseason game a mad scramble with a number of players jockeying for a roster spot.
Each team will play four preseason games, with the exception of Dallas and Arizona, with two home and two road contests. The final week of preseason will have all 32 teams playing on Thursday, August 31 with final rosters submitted to the league office that weekend. The only 2016 playoff rematch takes place in Week 2 when the Patriots visit Houston.
The Los Angeles area went 21 years without an NFL team and for 2017 there will be two. The Rams and Chargers will battle for bragging rights on August 26 in the Los Angeles Coliseum. The game will be televised on CBS. That same day the NFC Champion Falcons will break in their new home when they host the Cards at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Some folks will argue for the complete abolishment of the preseason or at least a reduction in games. But the exhibition games serve a purpose despite some of the injuries that occur. Who could forget the Cowboys losing Tony Romo in Week 3 last year? It was a devastating injury at the time, but Dallas drafted wisely and used the final game to get Dak Prescott tuned up. It worked out well for the team. We’re going to get a heavy dose of players that will not be playing once the regular season starts, but it’s football. And that’s what matters.
While nothing that happens in the preseason is ever a precursor of what’s to occur when the games really count, it allows for all of us to get a feel for how the team’s will look down the road. Don’t bet over your head. Pick your spots. Read what the coaches and players are saying. If you play your hand right, you just might be able to add a couple dollars to your bottom line.

NFL Preseason Betting Tips
NFL preseason is one time of the year where 'coach-speak' is extremely important. It's also one time of year where the coaches are willing to reveal their game plans in their entirety. They will lay out for you exactly what their strategy and game plan is going in. Which players they want to take long looks at.
The QB rotation. Whether they are going to take a long look at a running back, or a receiver. All of these things will influence the outcome of a game as well as the betting lines, both sides and totals. Knowing who is going to be on the field in the 2nd half, when the point spread outcome is likely to be decided, is crucial.
NFL preseason gambling is full of ironies including the fact that in exhibition sports betting, worst may be first and first may be worst. Keep in mind when looking at the NFL preseason betting line that some teams are really going to really focus and try to win certain games while others will not. That information can be found by reading the team's hometown newspaper throughout the week. Continue
