Here at Gamblers Palace, our NBA Power Rankings are going to differ just a bit from the run-of-the-mill rankings you see on other websites. While those power rankings approach NBA teams from a statistical standpoint, we focus on the good stuff…gambling.
NBA Power Rankings at Gamblers Palace are exactly what the gambler needs. We take into account all the normal power ranking components such as offensive and defensive efficiencies, injuries, strength of schedule, rivalries, home-court advantage and coaches, but we compile all of those into a edge for the handicapper.
You will see that our NBA Power Rankings focus on each team’s win-loss record against the spread. We highlight good spots in the coming week to possibly play, or fade, a particular team. Our writers will highlight basketball teams on the rise, and on the decline.
NBA Power Rankings are updated weekly so you’ll want to check back every Monday for fresh information on how to bet the NBA.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks went into the All-Star break the most lucrative bet in the NBA. At the other end of the spectrum, the New York Knicks reached the midway point the absoluter worst wager at top betting sites in the Association regardless of snapping their 18-game losing streak in Atlanta right before the break. The second half of the season is here! Teams continue to jockey for playoff and NBA Draft positioning. Let’s take a look at how all 30 teams stack up from a betting perspective heading into the final six weeks of the regular season.
Milwaukee Bucks (34-20-3 ATS)?(LW: 2 ) Milwaukee closed its first half on a high by logging a pair of wins and covers on the road in Chicago and Indiana. In doing so, the team moved to 8-1 SU & ATS the L/9 times it took to the hardwood. With the moves made to shore up the roster at the trade deadline, the Bucks look to be the team to beat in the East. They open the second half at home against Boston and Minnesota.
Dallas Mavericks (34-22-1 ATS) (LW: 1 ) Though Big D has made NBA bettors some green this season, it’s started to fall well off the pace for a playoff seed in the Western Conference. Dropping a pair both SU & ATS to Houston and Miami before the break did them no favors. It doesn’t get any easier this week either with home and road games scheduled against the Nuggets and Jazz respectively.
Sacramento Kings (34-23 ATS) (LW: 3 ) The Kings were no doubt one of the biggest surprises in the first half both from overall and betting standpoints. They closed their first half out with a hard fought 120-118 loss in Denver, but still went on to easily cover the closing 7 point spread. They’ll hit the road to kick off the second half which isn’t great considering their 11-16 SU & 13-14 ATS records as visitors.
Oklahoma City Thunder (33-24 ATS) (LW: 4 ) The Thunder saw their four-game win and cover streak go up in smoke right before the break after dropping a disappointing 131-122 decision in New Orleans as 4.5 point favorites. With three of their next four to come at home where they’ve played .740 ball to date and covered 16 of 27 times, OKC looks to be in a buy spot moving forward.
Brooklyn Nets (33-26 ATS) (LW: 8 ) As surprising the Kings have been in the West, it can be argued the Nets have been even more so in the East with D’Angelo Russell turning this franchise around in a big way. It wrapped the first half a game over .500 and covered its final two games by winning and covering a marathon tilt against the Cavs. Four of the next five come at home, but Brooklyn’s only 15-15 ATS as hosts.
Orlando Magic (32-26-1 ATS) (LW: 9 ) The Magic made a strong argument that it’s the team to beat in the wretched Southeast Division right before the break by trouncing the Bucks, Hawks, Pelicans and Hornets. In doing so, the cover streak increased to five straight and they’ll look to keep the mojo rising against Chicago at home before traveling to Toronto for a litmus test with the Raptors.
Los Angeles Clippers (32-27 ATS) (LW: 6 ) The Clippers open up the second half of their 2018-19 campaign in the eighth and final seed of the Western Conference playoff standings. They split their pair of games against Minnesota and Phoenix both SU & ATS heading into the break, and will look to improve upon their 16-15 SU & 17-14 ATS road records at Memphis and Denver to close out this week.
Portland Trail Blazers (31-26 ATS) (LW: 7 ) No team in the league is faced with a bigger task than the Blazers out of the break! Portland closed the first half with a huge home win and cover over Golden State. Each of their next seven games will be played away from the Moda Center, and they’ve played to 10-15 SU & ATS records as visitors which includes dropping each of the last two road tilts SU & ATS at OKC and Dallas.
San Antonio Spurs (31-27-1 ATS) (LW: 5 ) Is it safe to assume the Spurs went into their break two weeks before the rest of the league? Fans of the team and those looking to make money betting on them at top rated sportsbooks certainly hope so considering San Antonio enters the second half 1-4 SU in its L/5 and amidst an eight-game coverless streak. They’ll close the “Rodeo Trip” out this week through Monday.
Denver Nuggets (30-27 ATS) (LW: 10 ) Owners of a two-game lead atop the Northwest Division and the No. 2 seed in the West, the first half couldn’t have wrapped much better for Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. That said, the team has only tallied three pointspread covers in its L/9 tries but gets to rectify that immediately out of the break with four of their next five coming at home where they’ve gone a moneymaking 20-9 ATS at top rated sportsbooks.
And the Rest...
 Utah Jazz (29-26-2 ATS)? (LW: 13 )
 Boston Celtics (30-28 ATS) (LW: 15 )
 Indiana Pacers (30-28 ATS) (LW: 11 )
 Miami Heat (29-27 ATS) (LW: 12 )
 Minnesota Timberwolves (29-28 ATS) (LW: 16 )
Charlotte Hornets (28-29 ATS)? (LW: 14)
 Philadelphia 76ers (28-30 ATS) (LW: 17 )
 Detroit Pistons (26-28-2 ATS) (LW: 18 )
New Orleans Pelicans (28-30-1 ATS) (LW: 19 )
 Houston Rockets (26-30-1 ATS) (LW: 20 )
 Washington Wizards (26-32 ATS) (LW: 22 )
 Toronto Raptors (26-33 ATS) (LW: 21 )
 Chicago Bulls (25-32-1 ATS) (LW: 26 )
 Cleveland Cavaliers (25-32-1 ATS) (LW: 25 )
 Memphis Grizzlies (26-33 ATS) (LW: 27 )
Los Angeles Lakers (24-31-2 ATS) (LW: 24 )
Golden State Warriors (24-32-1 ATS) (LW: 23 )
 Atlanta Hawks (25-33 ATS) (LW: 30 )
Phoenix Suns (25-34 ATS) (LW: 29 )30: New York Knicks (24-33-1 ATS) (LW: 28 )
