Here at Gamblers Palace, our NBA Power Rankings are going to differ just a bit from the run-of-the-mill rankings you see on other websites. While those power rankings approach NBA teams from a statistical standpoint, we focus on the good stuff…gambling.
NBA Power Rankings at Gamblers Palace are exactly what the gambler needs. We take into account all the normal power ranking components such as offensive and defensive efficiencies, injuries, strength of schedule, rivalries, home-court advantage and coaches, but we compile all of those into a edge for the handicapper.
You will see that our NBA Power Rankings focus on each team’s win-loss record against the spread. We highlight good spots in the coming week to possibly play, or fade, a particular team. Our writers will highlight basketball teams on the rise, and on the decline.
NBA Power Rankings are updated weekly so you’ll want to check back every Monday for fresh information on how to bet the NBA.
The first games of every series in the NBA Playoffs played out over the weekend. No better time than now to reshuffle the deck and see how the teams all stack up against one another in terms of covering the pointspread at offshore sportsbooks. Remember, this isn’t a breakdown of which team we think wins the championship, but instead a barometer of whether to trust them with your money. Let’s take a look at how all of the 16 teams remaining stack up from a betting perspective with Game 2 of every series set to tip-off starting Monday night.
1: Milwaukee Bucks (1-0 ATS) The Bucks closed the regular season out as the best bet in the NBA by covering at a 47-34-1 clip. Giannis Antetokounmpo and company picked right back up where they left off taking the Pistons out behind the woodshed in Game 1.
2: Houston Rockets (1-0 ATS) Houston wasn’t the greatest team to back in the regular season at betting sites. However, it closed the regular season on a high covering six of seven and just beat the ever living snot out of the Jazz to move to 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings winning them by an average of 21.3 points.
3: Golden State Warriors (1-0 ATS) Golden State destroyed NBA bettors bankrolls in the regular season, but did them a solid on Saturday night when they beat the Clippers by margin to take a 1-0 series lead. As much as people might want to deny it, there isn’t a team in this league that can hang with the defending champs when they come to play.
4: Boston Celtics (1-0 ATS) The Celtics put a strain on their supporter’s bank rolls in the regular season, but got the job done against the Pacers in Game 1 by playing an unforgiving brand of defense in the third quarter to take a lead they’d never relinquish. That said, this series is far from over.
5: Portland Trail Blazers (1-0 ATS) There’s not a doubt in my mind the 3-6 matchup between the Trail Blazers and Thunder will be going seven games. Damian Lillard put the team on his back late to lead them to the 104-99 win and cover as 3-point favorites to move to 25-16-1 ATS at the Moda Center to date.
6: Orlando Magic (1-0 ATS) Toronto’s got another thing coming if they thought the Magic were just going to roll over and die. That could’ve happened a number of times in Game 1, but Orlando instead displayed some true grit and battled all the way until coming out on top in overtime. I’ve got a Magic series ticket in my back pocket; just sayin…
7: Brooklyn Nets (1-0 ATS) If the Nets continue to shoot the 3-ball like they did in the series opener at Philadelphia, every team in the East best be on red alert! D’Angelo Russell is breaking out right before our eyes, and now casual NBA fans get to see him in full bloom. Get your popcorn ready for Game 2!
8: San Antonio Spurs (1-0 ATS) The Spurs are now short -120 favorites to defeat Denver in the first round of the playoffs after winning outright in the Pepsi Center as 5-point dogs. San Antonio owned the edge in experience heading into the second season and took advantage of it; but can they make it hold up?
9: Oklahoma City Thunder (0-1 ATS) The Thunder had their chances to steal Game 1 in Portland, but like they did so many times in the regular season, they failed to come through when it mattered most. Even so, this series is far from over with Portland still only installed -135 favorites to advance even though they own home court advantage and already have a win under their belt.
10: Indiana Pacers (0-1 ATS) It really is a darn shame Victor Oladipo succumbed to a season ending injury. Had he not, the Pacers would be a player in the East this season.
11: Denver Nuggets (0-1 ATS) The Nuggs really struggled to cover many pointspreads at top rated sportsbooks the tail end of the season, and that ugly trend didn’t end in the first game of the playoffs.
12: Philadelphia 76ers (0-1 ATS) If Joel Embiid is unable to run close to 80 percent the remainder of this series, it would hardly be a shock to see Brooklyn advance. This Sixers team has been a disappointment ATS all season long, and that won’t change if the big man is out of the equation.
13: Toronto Raptors (0-1 ATS) The only other division winner to burn NBA bettors more than the Raptors were the Warriors, but Golden State was forced to eat exorbitant chalk all season. What’s Toronto’s excuse?
14: Los Angeles Clippers (0-1 ATS) Doc Rivers has a really nice team at his disposal and one that could be a force down the road. Unfortunately, they’re nothing but sacrificial lambs for the reigning champs.
15: Utah Jazz (0-1 ATS) ?What on god’s green earth was that Utah?! Best get back to the drawing board and cook something else up because the Game 1 game plan was painful to watch for those that took the points at betting sites.
16: Detroit Pistons (0-1 ATS) The Pistons seriously have no business being in the playoffs. They lucked out with games against Memphis and New York to clinch the No. 8 seed. After falling by 35 points in the series opener with the Bucks, Detroit checks in just 1-6 ATS in its last seven games.

The 2019 NBA Playoffs figure to be without all that much in the way of drama.
