After a powerful Seven months and 82 games all roads lead up to the NBA Finals.
NBA basketball fans will watch 16 teams fighting to win 16 games to become the next team to try to embrace the NBA Championship trophy.
It's hard to believe that we're a quarter of the way through the 2017-18 NBA regular season.
Little has changed from what we would have expected; the Cavaliers and Warriors are both really good once again, and they're getting some serious challenges from the Celtics and Rockets respectively.
In fact, in spite of the fact that both Cleveland and Golden State are heavy odds-on favorites to get into the NBA Finals for a fourth-consecutive season, neither one would be the No. 1 seed in their conference if the playoffs started today. Boston (+1200) and Houston (+1000) have been gaining ground on the odds to win the NBA Finals steadily, and both appear to be serious threats to the thrones of their foes in their respective conferences.
Golden State is an amazing -275 favorite to win a third title in four seasons. The oddsmakers are tipping Cleveland at +600.
The reason why the odds to win the NBA Finals are dropping on all of these teams is due to the fact that there are several contenders who are falling flat. Oklahoma City remains a popular choice to win it all at 25 to 1, but the trio of Paul George, Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook doesn't seem to be jiving yet. The Thunder are 9-12 through a quarter of the year, and if the playoffs started today, they wouldn't be a part of it.
Other teams in the West like the Clippers (300 to 1) and Grizzlies (400 to 1) have also tailed off dramatically at the outset of the season. With injuries abound on both rosters and Memphis parting ways with David Fizdale not even at the quarter pole of the season, it's clear that both teams aren't legitimately contenders.
