Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Football PredictionVenue: Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Game

When: Saturday, December 17, 2016 - 3:30 p.m. ET / ABC

Where: Las Vegas, NV. - Sam Boyd Stadium

Who: Houston Cougars vs. San Diego State Aztecs

Some new blood is coming to the Las Vegas Bowl. For years upon years, it's felt like at least one school from the state of Utah has played in this game, and if either Utah and/or BYU wasn't there, it was Boise State representing the Mountain West.

This year, with the San Diego State Aztecs winning the MWC, they'll get to come to Sin City for the first time since 1998, and awaiting them at Sam Boyd Stadium will be the Houston Cougars, who will become the first ever AAC team to play in this game.

The Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl, is one of the first bowl games to take the field every year on the NCAA Bowl schedule and annually host the top choice from the Mountain West vs. a Pacific-12 Conference.

The Royal Purple Las Vegas bowl ( formerly the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas ) is an NCAA-sanctioned Division I-A post-season college football bowl game that has been played annually at 40,000-seat Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1992.

The Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl this year will play on Saturday, Dec. 17th, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. with the fine folks at ABC.

Opening Line: Houston -3.5

Preview: There was a point this season when it felt like the Houston Cougars and the San Diego State Aztecs were both fighting for that one coveted Group of Five spot to the New Year's Six. As it played out, Western Michigan earned that spot, and that left both the Cougs and the Aztecs out of the big time bowl games. That said, they've got a great game against each other lined up in the Las Vegas Bowl on the first Saturday of the bowl bash, and this could end up being one of the most looked forward to games of the early portion of the bowl season.
