Week 6 NCAA Football Predictions & College Betting Odds

Bet week 6 College Football PicksWeek 6 NCAA football betting action has several intriguing matchups on the slate.

The first five weeks of the 2017 College football season are officially in the books and College football fans can hardly wait for this weeks College football betting action.

Teams are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Some are full steam ahead to the College Football Playoff. Others have lost all hope. A few can still control their own Playoff destiny.

The oddsmakers have released their opening college football lines for most the matchups and with so many exciting games on tap for Week 6, we have uncovered a couple of golden opportunities on which to place a timely wager.

With so much college football betting action happening around the country, come back daily for the latest in College football betting news, analysis and college football picks against the spread.

Below is a table with all of the odds, start times, TV listings and totals.

College Football Week 6 Odds and Predictions

Though there is a serious lack of Top 25 battles on tap for Week 6 of the college football season, you can bet there are going to be a lot of teams that are scrapping and clawing for their lives in the chase to get into the College Football Playoff.

The top team in America is going to be facing another stern test on the road in the SEC. Alabama will travel to College Station to play against a Texas A&M team that hasn't lost since blowing a huge lead against UCLA at the Rose Bowl back in Week 1. The Crimson Tide have outscored their last two foes by a combined score of 125-3, and it's hard to see them getting challenged no matter the competition at the moment.

Even though Oklahoma, Clemson and Ohio State should all be skating by with ease, there are some issues for sure at the top of the country.

Michigan State is set to try to try to reenact its most recent upset at the Big House against the Wolverines. This is the biggest test of the year for Big Blue in our eyes, especially if Michigan can't figure out how to produce a little more offense than it has all season long.

Penn State's roadie to Northwestern won't be easy, especially after the Wildcats gave a real spook to Wisconsin in Madison last week. Georgia's road trip to Vanderbilt and Notre Dame's trip to North Carolina are both potential hazards as well.

This is also probably going to serve as a bit of an eliminator week for some of the teams that have already been saddled with one loss.

It all starts on Thursday with Louisville against N.C. State in a clash of two teams that were hung with early defeats. This one means a lot more to Louisville, knowing that it already has one ACC loss; a second will surely end any chances of winning the conference or challenging for the National Championship. The Wolfpack could quietly become contenders, too if they can win this one to buoy the win over Florida State from earlier in the season.

Speaking of the Seminoles, they got on track last week against Wake Forest. If they can beat Miami in a huge rivalry game, the Noles could once again be back on track. With games against Clemson, Louisville and Florida left to play, FSU's season isn't necessarily in the toilet quite yet. Miami will want this game for sure to prove that it is once again amongst the national contenders.

College Football Wednesday, October 4, 2017

Arkansas State at Georgia Southern, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN2)

Opening Line: Check Back Later

Preview: The Arkansas State Red Wolves and Georgia Southern Eagles have gotten off to rough starts this season. They're a combined 1-5 and don't have an FBS win between them yet. That stat won't be true by the end of the night on Wednesday, as one of these two clubs will snare their first Sun Belt victory of the campaign against the other. Continue...

College Football Thursday, October 5, 2017

Louisville at N.C. State, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Louisville -1

Preview: The N.C. State Wolfpack want to know when they're going to start getting the respect they deserve. They're 4-1 out of the blocks, and they're probably five wins or so away from legitimately having a shot at pulling off the upset of all upsets in the ACC Atlantic Division. Of course, they've still got to beat some really good teams to get to that point, including a Thursday nighter at home against the Louisville Cardinals. Continue...

College Football Friday, October 6, 2017

Memphis at Connecticut, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Memphis -14

Preview: There aren't all that many teams that have yet to cover a spread this season, but the Connecticut Huskies are amongst them. They're 0-4 ATS and will look to snare their first online sportsbook 'W' of the season when they face off with the Memphis Tigers on Friday night. Continue...

Boise State at BYU, 10:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Boise State -7

Preview: In the grand scheme of things, both the Boise State Broncos and the BYU Cougars have been tremendously underachieving teams this season. Both clubs had some fringy aspirations of being in the New Year's Six at the outset of the season, yet they're just 2-2 and 1-4 respectively coming into their matchup against either other on Friday night. Continue...

College Football Saturday, October 7, 2017

Wake Forest at Clemson, 12 p.m. ET (ESPN2)

Opening Line: Clemson -21.5

Preview: The Clemson Tigers don't look quite as good as Alabama right now, but there's no doubt that they have the most impressive resume in the nation at the moment. They've already clocked Virginia Tech and Louisville on the road and have a home win over Auburn to their credit. This week's game against Wake Forest, though, is the sort of affair that could turn into a trap in a hurry just as Pittsburgh was last season. Continue...

Iowa State at Oklahoma, 12 p.m. ET (FS1)

Opening Line: Oklahoma -26.5

Preview: To say that the Iowa State Cyclones have had no luck whatsoever against the Oklahoma Sooners in our lifetime would be an understatement. They're 1-44-1 against OU since 1961, and they haven't stuck within single-digits of the Sooners in 11 consecutive games. Now, they've got to go up against the Sooners once again while Oklahoma appears to be back on top as a National Championship contender. Continue...

Penn State at Northwestern, 12 p.m. ET (ABC)

Opening Line: Penn State -14

Preview: The Penn State Nittany Lions have already withstood one major road test in the Big Ten this year when they went to Kinnick Stadium and survived Iowa. Now, they have to go to Evanston and hope to do the same against the Northwestern Wildcats in a game that can't do anything but hurt them in their chase for the College Football Playoff. Continue...

Georgia at Vanderbilt, 12 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Georgia -14

Preview: Three weeks ago, the Vanderbilt Commodores were 3-0, coming off of their first win against a Top 25 team in eons and were hungry to see if they could match wits with Alabama. Spoiler alert: They couldn't. Now, the Commodores are finishing up a three-game stretch that will rank amongst the toughest for any team in America. After losing to Alabama and Florida, Vandy will have to tangle with the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. Continue...

Ole Miss at Auburn, 12 p.m. ET (SEC Network)

Opening Line: Auburn -20

Preview: The Auburn Tigers made a huge statement last week when they blew out Mississippi State 49-10. The Tigers should have a clear path in front of them to 5-1 this week when they take on the Ole Miss Rebels, though this could also be a reminder of just how talented this Mississippi squad truly is. Continue...

West Virginia at TCU, 3:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

Opening Line: TCU -12

Preview: Success breeds expectations in a hurry in college football. The TCU Horned Frogs became the newest trendy team on the block when they beat Oklahoma State on the road in Stillwater. How will Gary Patterson's club handle its new expectations? We'll find out when the West Virginia Mountaineers come to town in Week 6. Continue...

Miami at Florida State, 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)Continue...

Opening Line: Pick 'Em

Preview: There was a point in the mid-2000s that the Florida State Seminoles would have given anything just to beat the Miami Hurricanes. The shoe has largely been on the other foot since. It's hard to believe that "The U" hasn't beaten FSU in the 2010s. That said, the Hurricanes are likely headed for favorite status in Tallahassee on Saturday afternoon and will have their chance to finally dispose of their arch rivals. Continue...

Notre Dame at North Carolina, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)

Opening Line: Notre Dame -16.5

Preview: The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are starting to catch some national attention once again. Their loss to Georgia is looking better and better as the weeks go by, and they have a few winnable games in front of them against title contenders. But before worrying about USC in a couple weeks, the Irish have to avoid looking past the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill in Week 6. Continue...

LSU at Florida, 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS)

Opening Line: Florida -4.5

Preview: It's been six years since the Florida Gators were favored over the LSU Tigers. Yet this season, there seems to be a tremendous problem in Baton Rouge that might not be fixed. This is Florida's chance to really jump on its SEC West rivals while they're down in a game that could go a long way towards propelling the orange and blue to a third straight SEC Championship Game. Continue...

Maryland at Ohio State, 4 p.m. ET (BTN)

Opening Line: Ohio State -30

Preview: D.J. Durkin is really trying his best to get his Maryland Terrapins to the point that they can compete against the best teams in the Big Ten. The Terps aren't quite there yet, but they have an opportunity against the Ohio State Buckeyes to at least take some steps in the right direction. Continue...

Arkansas at South Carolina, 4 p.m. ET (SEC Network)

Opening Line: Arkansas -2

Preview: The South Carolina Gamecocks and Arkansas Razorbacks are at a bit of an impasse in their respective seasons. Both already have two losses and have far tougher games left to play this year than the one they're about to embark upon. The losing club is going to have a real uphill battle to fight just to get into a bowl game, while the winner will still have some fringy beliefs that it could win the SEC. Continue...

Alabama at Texas A&M, 7:15 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Alabama -25.5

Preview: For the first time in a while, we aren't talking about Kevin Sumlin and this being the game that he has to win in order to keep his job. He's led the Texas A&M Aggies to four straight wins after the collapse against UCLA that kicked off the campaign. Now, he's finally in a no-lose spot against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the biggest game in a while in College Station. Continue...

Virginia Tech at Boston College, 7:15 p.m. ET (ESPN2)

Opening Line: Virginia Tech -17

Preview: The Virginia Tech Hokies left the national spotlight just as soon as they entered it. After getting blown out last week by Clemson, Justin Fuente's team has to get back on the horse in a hurry to avoid the embarrassment of getting beaten on the road by the Boston College Eagles in Week 6. Continue...

Michigan State at Michigan, 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC)

Opening Line: Michigan -12.5

Preview: Mark Dantonio is repeatedly saying that he has a team that is much different from last year's squad. The Michigan State Spartans have only had one chance to really show that thus far this season, and they were beaten down by Notre Dame in that opportunity. Now, they've got a second chance at success against one of the top teams in America, though it would be naive to seriously think that there's a shot at an upset of the Michigan Wolverines at the Big House. Continue...

Wisconsin at Nebraska, 8 p.m. ET (BTN)

Opening Line: Wisconsin -13.5

Preview: There aren't many challenges that are separating the Wisconsin Badgers and a potential spot in the College Football Playoff. Clearly, they're going to have to run the table this year if they want to be guaranteed a spot in the CFP, and that includes going on the road and surviving against a Nebraska Cornhuskers outfit that is barely keeping its head above water. Continue...

Washington State at Oregon, 8 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network)

Opening Line: Washington State -1

Preview: The Washington State Cougars have officially proclaimed themselves as National Championship contenders. That said, as quickly as Wazzu got into the CFP discussion by beating USC, it could find itself falling out of the whole thing after taking a very difficult road trip out to Autzen Stadium to visit the Oregon Ducks. Continue...

Hawaii at Nevada, 10:30 p.m. ET (CBSSN)

Opening Line: Hawaii -3.5

Preview: It's going to be an emotional week for sure for the Nevada Wolf Pack. The most devastating shooting spree in the history of the United States happened right in their backyard in Las Vegas, and their kids are going to have to get ready for a football game to be played on Saturday night. Emotions are what makes games like this one against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors so difficult to try to handicap. Continue...

California at Washington, 10:45 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Opening Line: Washington -27

Preview: If the Washington Huskies played on the East Coast, they would probably be the No. 3 team in America right now. Instead, the fact that they've pummeled foes out on the West Coast when most of the folks out on the East Coast have already gone to bed has them mired in a bit of No Man's Land. They're good, and we know that they're good, but just how good are they? We probably aren't going to get much of an answer on Saturday when the Cal Golden Bears come calling in yet another late-night soiree. Continue...
