Scoring a pair of special teams touchdowns, recording four sacks and holding the opposing quarterback to 113 passing yards should mean a victory. But the Baltimore Ravens didn’t get the memo and somehow dropped a game to a Bears team that had lost 10 straight on the road. The stars were aligned for the Ravens, especially after it appeared Joe Flacco had risen from his prolonged malaise the previous week. Instead, the Ravens will enter their Week 7 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings with more questions about the stability of their quarterback.
The Ravens had relied on their defense for most of the season as Flacco and the offense continue to try and get things right. The group has held up for the most part, but they crumbled last week, especially against the run, which was surprising considering they expected to see Chicago run the ball a lot. Baltimore allowed a franchise record 231 rushing yards to the 12th-best run team entering the contest, and it was a 53-yard run in overtime that led to the game-winning field goal.
Special teams were about the only bright spot for the Ravens, who got a long kickoff return touchdown from Bobby Rainey and a game-tying 77-yard punt return score from Michael Campanaro. Chicago tried to give them the game, but the offense failed to score and Flacco struggled again with just 180 passing yards and a pair of picks that led to Chicago scores.

Week 6: Bears 27, Ravens 24 (OT)
ATS Result: Bears +5.5
Over/Under Total Result: Over 39.5
Baltimore failed to score an offensive touchdown, but two kick return scores and a pick-six thrown by Flacco were enough to cash the over for a second consecutive game. The Ravens overcame an 11-point deficit in the final five minutes, tying the game on Campanaro’s punt return and a two-point conversion to seemingly grab momentum. However, their inability to stop the run cost them in the end. A long run in OT set Chicago up for the game-winning field goal as the Ravens fell to 3-3 ATS.
Week 5: Ravens 30, Raiders 17
ATS Result: Ravens +3
Over/Under Total Result: Over 40.5
Playing a team without its starting quarterback, the Ravens did exactly what they needed to break their 2-game SU and ATS losing streak. They scored on the opening drive then used a Jimmy Smith fumble return touchdown to put the Raiders in an early hole. They also got a good game from Flacco, who threw for 222 yards and set up a pair of scores with long pass plays, something that had been missing from the offense. The result was a season-high point total.
Week 4: Steelers 26, Ravens 9
ATS Result: Steelers -3.5
Over/Under Total Result: Under 42
Flacco might have sucked, but he had a lot of help as the Ravens never came close to covering the spread or cashing the over. The offense continues to struggle with Flacco sacked four times while throwing a pair of interceptions. The defense played much better than last week, but without any help, it was another frustrating loss.
Week 3: Jaguars 44, Ravens 7
ATS Result: Jaguars +3
Over/Under Total Result: Over 38
The Ravens went three-and-out on their first four drives and the fifth didn’t get a chance after Flacco’s interception on the first play. At that point they were down 20-0 and given their struggles on offense when winning, the deficit was insurmountable. Mallett threw a late touchdown pass to avoid the shutout, but the Ravens lost ATS for the first time while the Jags covered the total by themselves.
Week 2: Ravens 24, Browns 10
ATS Result: Ravens -7.5
Over/Under Total Result: Under 39.5
The Ravens forced five more turnovers, giving them a whopping 10 in two games, and converted two of those miscues into touchdowns, which turned out to be difference in a 24-10 victory. Both takeaways resulted in a short field and the Ravens took advantage. The result was another game below the closing total and the under has cashed both times.
Week 1: Ravens 20, Bengals 0
ATS Result: Ravens +2.5
Over/Under Total Result: Under 41.5
Entering the game as a 2.5-point dog, it was an easy cover for the Ravens, who pitched their first shutout since Week 10 of the 2009 season when they dropped Cleveland 16-0. A hamstring injury to Danny Woodhead could prevent the offense from scoring more points, which gives value to the under.
Preseason Record: 4-0
ATS Record: 4-0
Over/Under Record: 1-3
The defense looks to be in mid-season form after the first-teamers didn’t allow a point and the group surrendered a total of 32 points during the exhibition season. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the offense lacked efficiency during the preseason with Ryan Mallett as the starter. Flacco is expected to play on Sunday, but the Ravens kept just two QBs on the 53-man roster, meaning Mallett will backup if Flacco’s back injury flares up.
