It was an injury marred season for the Baltimore Ravens a season ago. The team scuffled its way to a 9-7 overall record that just saw it miss out on a trip to the playoffs due to losing outright to the Bengals at home as 8 point favorites in Week 17. The injury bug was truly unkind to the offense, though Joe Flacco didn’t have many pieces to work with when everyone was healthy.
That won’t be the case in 2018 provided the injury bug doesn’t ravage their roster a second straight season. Tight end Benjamin Watson led the team in receptions last year ( 61 ). His four touchdown receptions tied for the team lead along with Mike Wallace. With capable pass catchers like Michael Crabtree, Willie Snead and John Brown brought in to overhaul the pass catching unit, it’s safe to say Flacco could be in store for his finest fantasy showing in years.
Add to the mix a powerful ground attack led by last season’s breakout star Alex Collins, and the picture becomes all the more clear. Baltimore’s defense will no longer give the team its best shot of putting points on the board. The return of Kenneth Dixon should also help the offense greatly improve upon its overall output.
The Ravens only conceded an average of 18.9 points per game last season. With Terrell Suggs and Matt Judon back to anchor the stop unit, Baltimore is likely to thrive once again. Especially with a secondary that ranked top-10 in the league returning fully intact. Depth on the defensive side of the ball is a concern, but an uptick in offensive efficiency would make the defenses job that much easier.
Baltimore’s season win total checks in at 8 with -130 juice attached to the over. They’re +4800 underdogs to win Super Bowl LIII, +2000 to win the AFC and +350 dogs to win the AFC North. The Ravens have won eight-plus games four of the last five seasons, and they look to be a safe bet to go over their season win total once again. It might not be by much, but with John Harbaugh currently on the hot seat, anything can happen.
