Manchester United vs. Tottenham
It is hard to envision a scenario where United wins this game on the road, as it is the last one for Tottenham at White Hart Lane. United was beaten last year in a similar spot by West Ham in the last game at Boleyn Ground. United also has nothing to play for, as their chances of qualifying for the Champions League rest on what they do in the Europa League. Jose Mourinho has already rested players in Premier League matches, putting his focus on the Europa League. United had a 1-0 lead over Celta Vigo and had the second leg on Thursday so there is a good chance some players won’t play in this game on Sunday.
Tottenham has had a very good season but they are not going to win the league title, as Chelsea may have already wrapped up the title before this game begins. Tottenham has been really good in the past two years but they have no titles. In fact, if you go back to the start of last season they have 144 points, while Chelsea and Manchester City have 134. But the Spurs have no title, as Leicester won last year and the Chelsea is going to win this year. The last trophy for Tottenham was the 2008 League Cup.
United is 10-3 on the road this season with four draws. They have outscored opponents in road games by a combined margin of 27-15. Tottenham is unbeaten at home at 16-0 with two draws. They have outscored opponents at home by a combined 45-8.
Manchester United has won 88 times in this series, with Tottenham winning 49 times, with 48 draws. Manchester United has won three of the last four meetings.
I am actually a bit surprised the line on this game isn’t higher. Tottenham hasn’t lost a league game at home all season and they are playing their finale at White Hart Lane against a United team that has no incentive to win. And United will almost assuredly be resting players. I will lay the price and take Tottenham to get the win.
