Everton vs. Arsenal
If Arsenal is to make the Champions League they need Liverpool to lose at home to Middlesbrough or they need City to lose at Watford. Neither of those things seems likely. Arsenal also has to win this game against Everton which might not be too difficult considering Everton has already qualified for the Europa League and has nothing to play for. Everton’s Gareth Barry said his team is still going to take Sunday’s game against Arsenal seriously. “The Emirates is a tough place to go and Arsenal could have a massive point to prove against us because they could be in for a Champions League place. But we will go there, be professional and try and get the win to end the season strongly.”
Everton has not played well on the road this season as they are 4-8 with 6 draws. They have been outscored by a combined 25-19 in road games.
Arsenal has been excellent at home this season, as they were 12-2 with 3 draws before their match against Sunderland. The Gunners outscored opposition by a score of 34-15 at home. The Gunners count heavily on defender Laurent Koscielny who continues to play through an Achilles injury. “I have some problems,” he said “Now it is better. I know it is a difficult injury because you need to work every day on this. Every morning I have my treatment for my Achilles and I know I need to do this to the end of my career. That's why last time I was injured but now it is okay with this. You need to be careful with this because if you stop doing your own exercise program for one or two weeks, the problem will come back. I know now I need to do this every day to be fit for my team.”
Not playing in the Champions League next season will be very disappointing for Arsenal. "To not be in the Champions League next season would be a very disappointing situation for us, but we will fight until the end to have as much of a chance to be there next season," Koscielny said to Sky Sports. "We need to do our job first, to have the two wins, and after that we wait for the results of Liverpool and Man City."
Arsenal has 96 wins in this series, while Everton has 56 wins. The teams have played to 42 draws. Everton won 2-1 at home earlier this season. It is the only win for Everton in the last five meetings. Five of the last seven have gone over the total.
I will lay the price and take Arsenal in this contest.
