With the youthful squad Germany is bringing with it to Russia, this could end up making this match the Group B title game. If there's a winner to this game, we would fancy that side to ultimately be in the knockout rounds, perhaps as the group's winner.
Chile qualified for this event by winning Copa America in 2015. The Chileans came back and won Copa America Centenario last year, and that came with some serious authority, most notably, a 7-0 win over Mexico that almost saw Juan Carlos Osorio run right out of Mexico upon his return home from the tournament.
Cameroon was also an upset winner of its major tournament to get to this point. The Indomitable Lions won AFCON earlier this year, pulling off a slew of upsets along the way to capture the continent's greatest prize. Whether the Lions ultimately belong in this field is a different story since this is the same team that was brutalized in the World Cup in 2014, losing all three matches and getting outscored 9-1 in the process.
Matchup to Watch
Can the young defenders at the back find an answer for two of the best offensive weapons in the world? Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez are flat out brilliant. They work together like they've been doing so for a decade, and their 59 goals between them is no accident. They were brilliant in Copa America to the point that even mighty Argentina couldn't figure out how to stop them.
Cameroon isn't bringing a single defender to the Confederations Cup who has more than 32 games of experience playing for his nation, and none are over the age of 28 either. The recipe doesn't feel like one that is going to breed a lot of success even though this team had one of the better defensive records at AFCON.

Cameroon is going to be in for a rude awakening as we see it. Sure, the Chileans were beaten by Romania and went through a somewhat mind-numbing 1-1 draw against Russia in the lead-in to this tourney, but when the bright lights are on, we suspect we'll see a solid performance on both sides of the pitch.
We just can't get over the Cameroonian defense having any chance against Vidal, Sanchez and the rest of the big time attackers for Chile. Sure, the record at AFCON was good, but it's not like this team is your run-of-the-mill Egypt or Senegal. These are legitimate world-class forwards who are going to be firing at 21-year old net minder, Fabrice Ondoa, and we just aren't sure he's ready for this moment even though he's the official winning goaltender of record in Africa.
With three points here in this one, Chile might as well already have its ticket punched into the semifinals of the Confederations Cup.
