Bet UFC Fight Night 117
Anzai vs. Jumeau
Anzai is coming off a win, as he defeated Roger Zapata by TKO in September of 2015. This will be the first fight for Anzai since that victory, as he has been out due to a back injury. He is a 31-year old Japanese fighter who made his UFC debut in August of 2014 and lost to Alberto Mina. Anzai has won seven of his last eight bouts overall, with five of those eight wins coming by knockout.
Jumeau signed with the UFC this year and defeated Dominique Steele in his debut in October. The win over Steele was the seventh in a row for Jumeau who made his debut in 2008. He has five wins by knockout and four by submission. He has four first round finishes. Jumeau had the nickname of Jedi but he prefers to be called “Juggernaut” because of his natural strength.
The question in this fight is what type of shape Anzai is in. He hasn’t been seen in two years and that is a long layoff in any sport. Jumeau looked pretty good in the win over Steele but that is the only UFC action he has seen. I lean a little bit toward Anzai in this fight and to taking the rounds to go under.
