Breeders' Cup Marathon ( 4:45 p.m. ET ) – The Marathon is the longest race run here on American soil, and it is always one of the more unpredictable ones of the Breeders' Cup. Don't be shocked if it is one of the international ponies who end up beating the horse racing betting lines in this one, as they are used to running a lot longer distances than the average American horse. London Bridge just came off of a 1 7/8 mile race. 1 3/4 miles should be a snap.
Pick: London Bridge
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf ( 5:25 p.m. ET ) – These juveniles are tough to handicap, knowing that most in this race haven't run more than two or three times in their careers. Bobby's Kitten is ready to take the step up to the Grade I level after winning by 6 1/2 lengths at the Grade III Pilgrim Stakes a few weeks ago, but We Miss Artie won the Breeders' Cup Futurity race by 2 3/4 lengths at Keeneland Park for a reason last month.
Pick: We Miss Artie
Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile ( 6:05 p.m. ET ) – There are a ton of ponies in this field that were set to compete this year on the horse racing gambling lines in the Triple Crown. Some did. Some didn't. Most had very little success. It will be interesting to see how Goldencents and Verrazano fare in this one. Verrazano has been one of the most bipolar horses in the sport over the course of these last few months, but he is comfortable running here at Santa Anita, and that should put him at ease and prepared for a great run on Friday night.
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf ( 6:50 p.m. ET ) – It's all about the ladies from here for the rest of the day on Friday, and the Juvenile Fillies' Turf race should be a good one. As we will see a lot of on Sunday, there are a ton of international horses, some of which are running on American soil for the first time in their career. Clenor and Chriselliam both seem like fillies that are dangerous in this race, but we're going with Testa Rossi instead.
Pick: Testa Rossi
Breeders' Cup Distaff ( 7:35 p.m. ET ) – The last of the Breeders' Cup races on Friday is the big one for the girls. The Distaff is the biggest race of the year for any of these fillies, and if it's a big race, that means that Princess of Sylmar is going to be up for it. She'll be the overwhelming favorite on the horse racing wagering lines, but we think that she is going to get beaten by one of the great starters in this race. Our choice is Beholder, who just won the Zenyatta Stakes in October.
