KLM Open Golf Matchups and Predictions

European Tour Golf Odds

The European Tour travels to The Netherlands for the 2017 KLM Open which has been on the tour’s schedule since day one in 1972. The tournament has produced legendary champions in the past that include Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie.

This year the betting field is pretty average but does have defending champion Joost Luiten, veteran Lee Westwood and former Ryder Cup players, Andy Sullivan, Chris Wood and Ross Fisher.

Venue: The Dutch, The Netherlands. This is the second straight year that it is the host venue. The layout was designed by Colin Montgomerie and opened in 2011. The track measures 6,983 yards and plays to a par 71. The key to playing well is keeping your ball dry as 12 of the 18 holes have water on them.

Last year: Joost Luiten fired up the home crowd by posting a final round 63 to edge Bernd Wiesberger and pick up his second KLM Open title.

Current KLM Open Golf Matchups

You might want to shop around for the best golf odds at a few sportsbooks to get the best price, but here is who I like this week in the golf matchups.

Joost Luiten -140 vs. Ryan Fox +120

Luiten is playing at home on his home course and by the way, has won here twice. Fox is an up and coming player but won’t be able to keep up with Luiten on home soil. Luiten is the play.

Bernd Wiesberger -130 vs. Ryan Fox +110

I’m fading Fox this week every which way but loose. Wiesberger finished second here a year ago and is by far the better player of the two. The last 10 winners are either from the British Isles, or nearby Belgium, Germany and Sweden. Wiesberger is from Austria which is also close to the Netherlands.

Lee Westwood -125 vs. David Horsey +105

Really, Horsey isn’t on the same level as Westwood, even at this stage of the game. I would take Westwood over Horsey every day of the week.

Andy Sullivan -120 vs. Ross Fisher EV

Sullivan is a past champion here and has been playing solid golf over the past few months. He’s also posted a third and T16 in the Netherlands. Fisher is in the midst of a mini-slump, missing the cut last week and really hasn’t played well in months. I’m taking the smiling Sullivan.

Fabrizio Zanotti -130 vs. Thongchai Jaidee +110

Zanotti’s last three starts here are impressive - a second in 2010, a fourth in 2015 and a T16 last year. He’s also coming off a T3 last week in Switzerland. The little man from Paraguay will beat the little man from Thailand.

KLM Open is scheduled to start September 14-17, 2017 at The Dutch. The Golf Channel will televise the event.
