It certainly wasn’t the prettiest win ever put forth, but it certainly did its job by snapping Pittsburgh’s four game losing streak and getting the team back into the win column for the first time since Week 5. With Big Ben Roethlisberger struggling to build off his fantastic 405 yard passing day against Dallas, it turned into the Le’Veon Bell show with him having his finest showing since returning from a three game suspension back in Week 4.
When the dust cleared, Bell rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown and added another eight receptions for 55 yards as a receiver out of the backfield. It was by far his best showing of the season which bodes well for him in this spot running up against the Colts No. 22 ranked rush defense. That said, the stage will be made readily available for Big Ben to shine with the Colts possessing the league’s absolute worst pass defense that surrenders nearly 285 passing yards per game.
The Colts have to be feeling mighty good about themselves right about now. With three wins in their last four games, Indy has propelled itself back into the AFC South title race and now only sits a game in back of the Texans for the division lead. They still have a home date with the Texans down the road as well.
Even though they got the best of the Titans last week at home to sweep the season series, the way the game played out was most disturbing. The Colts bolted out to a commanding 21 point lead in the first half, but failed to score a touchdown the rest of the way and had to hold on for dear life to pull out the 24-17 home win and cover. Chuck Pagano elected to salt the game away with Frank Gore rushing the pigskin 18 times and Luck only passing the ball 28 times. That formula will not work in this match-up with the Steelers readily able to strike quickly against the Colts poor excuse of a defense.
Player to Watch
Antonio Brown has been mighty quiet all season-long, and for all intents and purposes, he’s been a major disappointment for all that drafted him as the No. 1 pick to their fantasy football team. This however could be the game that gets him back in their good graces running up against an Indianapolis defense that concedes 7.4 yards per pass attempt (No. 27) and gives up an average of nearly two passing touchdowns per game.
Rishard Matthews gouged the Colts for 122 yards on nine receptions last week. The week prior, Jordy Nelson went for 94 yards and one touchdown. Before that, Kansas City’s Tyreke Hill went for 98 yards and a touchdown. Indianapolis is allergic to shutting down the opposition’s No. 1 receiving option. Brown is in for a huge night!
Steelers vs. Colts Free Picks
Each of the Colts last two home games failed to surpass the closing total odds at BookMaker.eu. The Steelers have played to low scorers in five of their last six with all but one of their five road games combining for low scorers. This is when the garbage stops! This is when Pittsburgh and Indianapolis put on a show that will have people still talking about the assault on the scoreboard next Thanksgiving.
Luck having a healthy assortment of offensive lineman and his wide receiver corps 100 percent intact should lead to him having one of his better showings in 2016. He’s struggled the last couple weeks, but Pittsburgh’s No. 26 ranked pass defense should be just the tonic he needs to bounce back. Ditto for Big Ben. The over cashed with ease in these AFC rival’s last two meetings, and tonight should be no different.
