Seahawks vs. Cardinals TV Coverage: NBC
The Seahawks fell into a late hole the previous week against the Houston Texans, but lived to tell about it due to Russell Wilson’s late game heroics. Pete Carroll’s squad did the same exact thing last Sunday at home versus Washington, but this time around, there was no miraculous comeback. While Seattle has put forth some impressive efforts, there’s still some ghosts in the machine.
The offense is completely one-dimensional with it ranked No. 2 passing the pigskin but only No. 19 running it. If not for Wilson’s team-high 271 yards, it would be an even worse ranking. The defense has also had its issues with it ranked middle of the pack defending the run and pass. It has however excelled at keeping points off the board ( No. 6 ), and this is a solid matchup against a Drew Stanton led offense.
After getting blanked 33-0 across the pond against the division rival Rams, the Cardinals 20-10 road win and cover at San Francisco was sorely needed. Regardless of the fact that the triumph occurred against a winless team. Regardless, the formula to the team’s success is one every team in the league would love to be able to mimic every passing week.
The defense stepped up to limit the Niners to a grand total of 329 yards and forced a pair of turnovers. Offensively, Stanton only completed half of his passes for 201 yards but also tossed a pair of scoring strikes. The star of the game was Adrian Peterson who gouged the 49ers laughable run defense for 159 yards on 37 carries. He’ll likely be called upon once again in this matchup to take advantage of a Seattle run defense that’s been nothing but middle of the road.
12.9 – Only the Redskins, Texans, Broncos and Browns have worse defensive yard per point averages than that of Arizona. The Cardinals have done a pretty decent job defending the run ( No. 11 ), but have had major problems keeping opposing passing attacks at bay ( No. 24 ). With the offense likely to struggle to put points on the board versus a Seahawks defense allowing just one point every 17.7 yards gained ( No. 5 ), Arizona is going to have to find a way to limit the Seahawks big plays through the air. If not, they’ll never have a shot of competing in this one all the way through.
Seahawks vs. Cardinals Picks
Early betting has season the public side with the home dogged Cardinals and under with the betting line down to -6 and the total to 42.5. I’m not buying into what took place by the bay last weekend. Arizona is a shell of its former self, and the Drew Stanton show has already been cancelled numerous times. Seattle is going to enter this tilt stark raving mad after letting last week’s home tilt against the Redskins get away from them late. The Seahawks defense matches up tremendously with what the Cardinals will look to do. That bodes terribly for Arians and his staff who’ve been up against it on that side of the ball ever since David Johnson went down way back in Week 1. I thoroughly expect Wilson to shred this secondary enough to allow for the Seahawks impotent ground game to actually have some success. With that, I’d look to lay the points at the top 5 online sportsbooks in this Week 10 kick-off.
