The division title likely comes down to this game for the Raiders. As good as Derek Carr and his mates have been all season long, a loss here would likely have them vying for only a wild card spot the rest of the way. With the Denver Broncos also lurking, it doesn’t get any bigger than this Week 14 kick-off!
A lucky horseshoe has been stuck up the Silver and Black’s behind all season long. It’s won numerous games it likely should have lost. While that’s a sign of a great team, I’m not 100 percent sold Oakland is a bona fide Super Bowl contender. Over the last three weeks, it’s struggled to put the Texans away and was forced to battle back from deficits to topple both the Panthers and Bills. One of these days the team isn’t going to be able to find its way back, and it’s going to cost them dearly.
I can’t even begin to describe how impressed I was with the Chiefs last Sunday. While I don’t believe the Falcons are any good, they’re still a division leader. Kansas City fell into an early 13-6 hole, but after tying Atlanta up halfway through the second quarter, they never looked back outscoring Matt Ryan and company 23-15 the rest of the way to eke out a 29-28 outright win and cover as 5 point underdogs.
The defense did a commendable job limiting the Falcons to a 14.9 yards per point average, down nearly 3.0 yards per point from their seasonal average. Eric Berry took an interception back to the house to earn the defense its second return for a score in the last four games. With Justin Houston also rounding into form, Kansas City’s defense is one all opposition won’t want to face moving forward.
It was all about the Chiefs defense in the first meeting with Oakland combining for just 285 yards from scrimmage in a 26-10 defeat. KC only got to Carr twice, but the unit was without Houston in that matchup. That said, Oakland was also without Latavius Murray who has been the lifeblood for the Raiders on the ground all season long. Alex Smith was overly efficient completing 19 of his 22 passes for 224 yards without a touchdown or interception thrown. Spencer Ware was the game’s offensive standout with 131 yards and a score on the ground, but Amari Cooper also came up big with 10 receptions for 129 yards.
The Chiefs have won four straight in the recent rivalry and covered three of those games against the closing odds. Oakland had won six straight at Arrowhead from 2007-12, but has failed to come out on top in each of its last three visits. The under is 7-2-1 the last 10 times these hated rivals collided in front of a sea of red.

As it stands right now, the AFC West can put three teams into the playoffs with Oakland, Kansas City and Denver sporting three of the best records in the conference. Punching that automatic ticket will be a major challenge in and of itself, and I can’t help but think KC holds the edge there due to recent play and the fact that it gets to play three of its final four games at home. Oakland has won two of its five road games by a single point and took the game at Tampa Bay in overtime. They’ve partaken in three straight emotional games, and I foresee that catching up to them on the NFL odds at BookMaker.eu in this spot.
