Patriots vs. Steelers ATS Picks

NFL Week 7 NFL Betting Lines

AFC Division leaders are set to collide in Week 7 when the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers get it on from Heinz Field. Unfortunately, it won’t be the quarterback matchup everyone had hoped for with Ben Roethlisberger sitting this one out after suffering a meniscus tear in Miami last week. That means Landry Jones will be back under center, but he’ll need to be much better than he was in relief last season if the Steelers are to not get taken to school on their own field by the “Hoodie.”

The transition to Tom Brady under center from Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett has luckily been seamless for the Patriots. Many wondered if the 14 year veteran had what it took to lead such a trying and complex offense, but the Michigan man has shown his smarts and even excelled. Who would have ever thought he’d step right in and throw for 782 yards and a perfect 6:0 TD/INT ratio in his first two games?

All kidding aside, the Pats offense is pretty much unstoppable with him now back at the helm. If a defense is able to limit the offense through the air, they can expect to get a heaping load of LeGarrette Blount and James White running and catching the pigskin out of the backfield. If the complete opposite occurs, it’s Gronk time with Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan and Martellus Bennett sprinkled in. It’s once again an embarrassment of offensive spoils in New England this season.

Nobody is going to want to bet the Steelers this week. Not with the team coming off an embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins and the injury list seemingly growing with every passing snap.

Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell must show up in this game. Each was a no-show last week with the former reeling in just four receptions for 39 yards and the latter only getting 10 carries due to game flow. These two must make the most of their chances, and make life easier on Jones if Pittsburgh is to avoid dropping its first home game of the season.

Player to Watch

Who else are we going to spotlight here other than Brady with the Steelers owning the league’s No. 29 ranked pass defense. Pittsburgh is allowing an average of 293.7 passing yards per game, and though it didn’t allow a touchdown pass last week and only one the week before, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Tannehill combined don’t equal the weapon that Brady is.

Tom has put forth QB ratings of 127.7 and 140.0 each of the last two weeks. Though his offensive line allowed him to get sacked four times the last two weeks, Pittsburgh is only averaging 1.3 sacks per game (No. 30), and if it allows him to stand undeterred in the pocket, this game will be over quickly.

Patriots vs. Steelers Free Picks

A whopping 92.4 percent of the bets taken since the odds at opened for this game are not surprisingly backing the visiting New England Patriots. How could they not with Brady and company simply toying with their opposition since he returned? As much as I’d love to fade the public in this spot, I simply can’t.

Landry Jones does absolutely nothing to breed any type of confidence, and the injuries incurred to the Steelers roster look to be too much to overcome. Make it a point to stay up to date with who is in and who is out if you plan on getting involved with this matchup. If the Steelers do somehow manage to get out in front of the Patriots early, look to get a reduced price on the live betting moneyline. Belichick won’t drop this game!
