Patriots vs. 49ers TV Coverage: CBS
Honestly, it’s been too easy for the Hoodie ever since Brady took his place back under center in Week 5. The Pats ripped through their opponents outscoring the Browns, Bengals, Steelers and Bills by the aggregate score of 136-71 and covering the closing pointspread with ease in each of those games. Though the team failed to cover or win out of a bye for the first time in two seasons, the loss is one I believe the team needed so as to keep them grounded.
Fantasy players will be firing up their Patriots for this matchup. The 49ers defense ranks last in the league in total defense, rushing defense and scoring defense. That will certainly have Brady, Rob Gronkowski and LeGarrette Blount grinning from ear-to-ear as they get ready to take the field for this one. Before last week’s loss to Seattle, New England had scored no less than 27 points in its previous four games. Expect them to hang a crooked number on Chip Kelly’s defense.
Chip Kelly needs to go back to Eugene. The Ducks need him. College football needs him. What doesn’t need him is the 49ers or the NFL for that matter. His philosophy just doesn’t work at this level. It’s time to scrap it and head back to where it all began.
The only thing the Niners excel at is rushing the pigskin. They rank No. 7 overall on the ground with Colin Kaepernick making it that much tougher to contend with. The Pats have been a bit better defending the run than the pass, but has been beaten up on a number of occasions. Seattle just logged 96 rushing yards last week, and if San Francisco can log 135 yards against the Seahawks stout run defense, it can excel against the Patriots as well.
13.7 – Only the Falcons, Packers, Chargers and Jaguars have worse defensive yards per point averages than that of the 49ers. San Francisco is allowing opposing offenses to tally a single point with every 13.7 yards gained. On the flipside, New England owns an offensive yards per point average of 14.2 (No. 7).
It’s safe to say the Pats will be able to do as they please offensively. NE has had no issues rubbing it in this season, but coming off a physical contest with the Seahawks might have them taking their foot off the gas pedal late in hopes of avoiding injury and moving onto next week.

The trap has been laid people! New England opened as two touchdown favorites on the
NFL odds at BookMaker.eu, but the line has since gone down 1.5 points even though better than 80 percent of the written tickets have come in on the visiting Pats. This is a perfect example of reverse line movement and all the warning signs are there to not lay the chalk with the Patriots.
Who in their right mind will want to back San Francisco in this one? Sharp bettors, that’s who! When this game is said and done, it wouldn’t shock me if nine of every 10 tickets written rode the Patriots. It makes perfect sense. However, some big money has pushed this line down. While I won’t be getting involved, I’d be taking the points if forced to bet a side in this matchup. Look for the Pats to get in and out just as quickly with a win and non-cover.
