Green Bay Packers PK
Indianapolis Colts PK
The game is a pick because of the notorious difficulty in lining preseason games. There aren’t many people that have insight on how long the starters will play and many of the early preseason games are largely played by athletes that won’t be on the roster by the time the season starts. However, one winning trick over the last decade has been teasing the games as there are very few blowouts this time of year.
WHO TO WATCH
The starters won’t play more than a series or two the first game of the season and so it’s important to know the back-ups. There is no position more important on the field than quarterback so knowing each team’s depth chart is vital in these games.
Behind Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay has a solid collection of talent. Brett Hundley was considered a great pick, when he was taken in the fifth round out of UCLA, and he should see a good amount of action here. He shined in the preseason last year, completing 69 percent of his passes for 630 yards with seven touchdowns compared to just one interception. He didn’t see any action in the regular season, but is seen as one of the top back-ups in the league.
Indianapolis’ primary back-up is Scott Tolzien. Tolzien was a back-up in Green Bay for three seasons, but has only seen very limited action in the regular season. He threw just one pass in 2015 and in his six seasons in the league, he has only seen a good amount of action in one. Back in 2013, he threw 90 passes after an injury to Rodgers and five of those ended up in the hands of the enemy.
Live betting is a great moneymaker during the preseason as when each team pulls their starters and primary back-ups has a great effect on the game. A knowledgeable bettor can understand a team’s depth chart and know how each group will probably perform when it steps out onto the field. The total is usually a very good place to start when it comes to live betting.
The Packers were the more talented team last season and are one of the more dangerous teams in the league. Rodgers and Mike McCarthy are one of the best quarterback and coach combinations in the league and the offense has a ton of firepower.
Indianapolis is looking to erase the taste of last season out of its mouth. The Colts were ravaged by injuries to the offensive line and never got going as a team. Andrew Luck took a noticeable step backwards but the hope is that stability and health will lead to a resurgence.
Green Bay is the better side to take here. The Packers have a lot more talent across the board and Hundley should be able to put some points up on Indianapolis.
