Chargers vs. Broncos TV Coverage: ESPN
The Chargers are loaded on offense, as they feature a quarterback in Rivers who threw for 4,386 yards and 33 TDs last season, a running back in Melvin Gordon who made the Pro Bowl last season and a receiver in Keenan Allen who returns from an ACL injury. And don’t forget about Antonio Gates who will set the record for most career TDs by a tight end with his next TD.
On the other side, the Broncos have a new head coach in Vance Joseph and a new offensive coordinator in former San Diego head coach Mike McCoy. The Broncos will be going with Trevor Siemian who threw for 18 TDs vs. 10 interceptions last season. The Broncos added Jamaal Charles to go help out C.J. Anderson in the running game.
The Broncos have the edge on defense but they will be missing T.J. Ward who they let go and Demarcus Ware who they didn’t bring back. Denver still has Von Miller who had the second-most sacks in the NFL a year ago with 13.5.
Player to Watch
If the Broncos are to win this game then Siemian needs to play well. He won the quarterback battle against Paxton Lynch in the preseason and the team is confident he will do well this season. “It’s Trevor’s team. He feels that way. We feel that way. He’s ready to have a great year for us. It’s his football team.” Head coach Vance Joseph said. The Broncos have a new coordinator this season in McCoy so they may throw the ball more than they did a year ago and that means Siemian will be the key player.
Chargers vs. Broncos Free Picks
The Chargers trail the all-time series 64-50-1. The teams split their games last season with both teams winning at home. The Chargers have not won in Denver since 2013. Despite the fact that the Chargers haven’t won in Denver in quite a while, this is one of the best teams the Chargers have had in many years. I will take the points with Los Angeles on Monday in what should be a high scoring game.
