Jaguars vs. Colts ATS Picks

NFL Week 17 NFL Betting Lines

Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts have absolutely nothing to play for in their Week 17 finale with the former out of the playoff picture for a bulk of the season and the latter getting eliminated last week. Each proved to be major disappointments this season, so it’s only fitting they lock horns in each team’s regular season finale. The Colts haven’t been swept by the Jags in the Andrew Luck era, but could suffer that fate on Sunday.

Week 17 NFL Odds at BookMaker.eu: Colts -4.5, 47.5

With all the improvements the Jaguars made on both sides of the ball during last off season, many expected them to be a contender within the division and be a thorn in the side of anyone that run up against them in the playoffs should they have qualified. None of that will come to fruition this season with Jacksonville bringing up the rear of the division and the head coach already axed.

The team had dropped nine straight games going into last week’s home tilt with a Tennessee team that had to win to keep its name in the race for the postseason. Shockingly, the Jaguars came up with the 38-17 decisive victory. In doing so, they covered the closing pointspread for a second straight week and invade Indianapolis having covered two straight on the road in a pair of close defeats to the Bills and Texans.

Injuries, concussions, a terrible offensive line and the inability to keep opposing offenses from ripping their defense apart has led to yet another unsatisfactory season in Indianapolis. Surprisingly, Luck wasn’t sacked for a second straight week in last week’s 33-25 road defeat in Oakland. In fact, it’s only conceded one sack in its last three games. Where was this type of protection over the course of the regular season?

Regardless, the Colts will miss out on the playoffs for a second straight season bringing Chuck Pagano’s job security in question. Offensively, this team has regressed since the “Deflategate” season, and it ranks closer to top 10 than top 5 in most pertinent offensive categories. That simply doesn’t do it when you trot the No. 27 ranked total and No. 24 ranked scoring defenses to the field every week.

Last Meeting

The Colts served as the Jaguars first win of the season across the pond back in Week 4. Little did we know, but it would only be one of three entering the final week of the season. The Jags controlled the game from the outset getting out to a 23-6 lead late in the third quarter but was forced to hold on for dear life in the final stanza when Indy’s offense finally erupted. It scored the quarters first 14 points to make it a bit more interesting, but Jacksonville fired back with a score and then held on for the 30-27 outright win as one point underdogs.

Jacksonville has gone 2-1 straight up and a perfect 3-0 against the spread in these rival’s last three skirmishes.

It’s been all one-way traffic on the NFL odds at BookMaker.eu since the lines first opened with the colts plummeting from touchdown favorites all the way down to 4.5 point choices. As schizophrenic a team the Colts have been all season, I believe the betting public is playing with fire here backing a Jaguars team that has no reason at all to compete in this matchup. If another win is logged, it will only hurt their draft positioning even more. While the Colts have nothing to play for either, a .500 season is within reach. The team has dropped its last two home games and I expect it to put its best foot forward in its finale so as to give the fan base something to look forward to for next season.
