Giants vs. Eagles TV Coverage: NBC
There was no letdown suffered by the Giants last week after snapping the Cowboys win streak and sweeping the season series to solidify their standing in the playoff picture the previous week. While it was far from pretty, Ben McAdoo’s squad leaned heavily on its defense and got just enough from the offense to pull out the 17-6 home win and cover as 4 point favorites.
But now it’s back to the road for the GMEN where the team has been average through their first six games. They’re 3-3 straight up but 3-2-1 against the spread when in the visitor’s role. While a win versus Dallas in Week 1 is under their belt, they’re 0-3 straight up and 0-2-1 against the spread versus the three playoff teams faced away from MetLife Stadium since. The defense has risen to the occasion evidenced by the under cashing in all six road games.
One of three teams in the NFC with just five wins, the Eagles were officially eliminated from playoff contention last week when they dropped a tough 27-26 decision at Baltimore. Doug Pedersen’s squad did however show plenty of resolve battling back from a 27-17 deficit in the fourth quarter to grant their wagering supporters a win against the spread. Heck, they could have won the game had they successfully converted the go-ahead two point conversion.
The 26 points put on the board were the most tallied by the offense since dropping 34 on the Steelers in a resounding win way back in Week 3. It’s crazy to think, but Wentz and company have had their most scoring success against the AFC North. At one point in time, Philly stood 4-0 straight up and against the spread at home with wins tallied against the Browns, Steelers, Vikings and Falcons. Since then, they’re 0-2 straight up and against the spread after falling to both Green Bay and Washington.
It was a game of catchup for the Eagles in the first go round with the Giants getting out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter, and a 28-17 lead in the third quarter. Philadelphia scored the game’s final six points, but it wasn’t enough to cover the 3 point spread in a 28-23 defeat.
Wentz threw for a whopping 364 yards, but failed to throw a touchdown and was picked off twice. Manning threw for just 257 yards but tossed four touchdowns with two of them going to Odell Beckham Jr. He was also intercepted twice. Neither team got much of anything going on the ground.
Giants vs. Eagles Free Picks
It’s been way too easy for the Giants of late with New York not playing the greatest of ball but still finding a way to come out on top. Their Week 9 win over the Eagles snapped their personal four game losing streak both straight up and against the closing NFL odds at BookMaker.eu in the recent rivalry. Philly has won and covered two in a row and three of the last four times it hosted the Giants.
Though it hasn’t been able to scratch out a win in over a month, the Eagles have played some real competitive ball over the last couple weeks. They’re yet to win a division game at home, and I expect them to go all out to secure at least one each of the next two weeks. Philly stands 2-1 straight up and against the spread as a home dog this season, and I expect them to improve upon that tally tonight with a huge outright win over their hated rival.
