Giants vs. Broncos TV Coverage: NBC
An ugly season got even uglier last week when the Giants fell at home to allow for the Chargers to log their first win of the season. In doing so, New York fell to 0-5 overall and the odds for Ben McAdoo to become the first coach to get fired this season were taken off the board. They were already down to almost an even money payout, so it almost seems like a foregone conclusion that he isn’t long for the job much longer.
Making 2017-18 one to already turn the page on is the fact that the struggling offense will be without the services of Odell Beckham Jr. the remainder of the season after breaking his ankle on a horrific play late in the fourth quarter. Joining him on the sideline were Sterling Shepard, Brandon Marshall and Dwyane Harris. The latter two are done for the season, but Shepard is likely to return at some point this season. Bottom line, NY’s struggling offense just got a whole heck of a lot worse forcing fantasy players to scramble for the waiver wire in search of replacements.
Last we saw the Denver Broncos in live action, they escaped the division rival Oakland Raiders with a 16-10 home win and cover. It was an ugly win no doubt, but much needed after suffering the first loss of the year the week prior in Buffalo. The win moved Vance Joseph’s squad to a perfect 3-0 straight up and 2-0-1 against the spread when taking the field in front of the hometown faithful.
The Broncos have the look of a team that is a viable threat on the current Super Bowl futures odds. After originally opening at +2000 to win it all, they’re down to +1500. Denver also only sits behind the Patriots +233, Chiefs +270 and Steelers +455 to win the AFC at +720. With the offense once again possessing a potent running game ( No. 3 ) and the defense only surrendering an average of 260.8 yards per game, the orange and blue look destined to be in the thick of things come January.
77.8 – Only the Dolphins and Cardinals have averaged less yards per game on the ground that the GMEN who check in just under 78 yards per game. With the entire wide receiving corps basically wiped out last week, New York is going to need to get some kind of production from the trio of Orleans Darkwa, Wayne Gallman, or Paul Perkins should he return to have any shot of not being laughed off the field. Easier said than done however with the Broncos simply shutting opposing ground games down with ease. Denver is allowing just 50.8 rushing yards per game and a miniscule 2.4 yards per carry. Both stats rank out No. 1 in the league! Eli Manning might just do himself a major solid if he milks that sore neck and doesn’t participate in this one.
Giants vs. Broncos Picks
Fresh off a bye and ready to get back on the field to do work, I foresee nothing but a blood bath playing out on Sunday night when the Giants and Broncos tee it up from the Mile High City. The “MO” of Sunday Night Football to date has seen one-sided affairs, and I hardly expect this one to play out much differently. NY simply doesn’t have the firepower to compete for a full 60 minutes, and I’m also convinced the coaching staff doesn’t have a clue how to rectify the situation either. No need to put this matchup under the microscope and drive yourself crazy picking it apart. It’s going to be a bloodbath! With that the case, lay the heavy chalk at the top 10 online sportsbooks, crack open a beer or poor a stiff drink, and enjoy the massacre.
