Denver Broncos vs. Chicago Bears
Date and Time: Thursday, August 10, 2017, 8 p.m. ET
Location: Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
Week 1 Preseason Opening NFL Odds: Pick, O/U 36
Broncos vs. Bears TV Coverage: NFL Network
The Broncos will have a new look this season as gone is head coach Gary Kubiak and in is Vance Joseph. The Broncos are using the preseason to determine their starting quarterback, as Siemian and Lynch battle for the job. Also worth watching in the preseason is the running back battle, as Jamaal Charles attempts to prove he is healthy and worth starting over C.J. Anderson.
The Bears spent a high draft pick on Trubisky and they threw a ton of money at Glennon in free agency, so it is hard to know what Chicago is doing. Glennon has the starting job for now but it will be interesting to see how Trubisky develops in the preseason. Chicago should have the edge in the second half, as they have experienced backup quarterbacks in Mark Sanchez and Connor Shaw, while the Broncos have two rookies.
Player To Watch
The spotlight for Chicago will be on Trubisky, who was the second overall selection in the NFL Draft. He is just starting to learn the NFL. "The biggest area has been just understanding the offense, understanding what NFL defenses look like, and to start to be able to read coverages," offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said. "It's a lot for a guy who has never taken a snap in pads under center.”
Broncos vs. Bears Free Picks
The quarterback rotations for each team are interesting, as Denver should have the first half edge with Siemian and Lynch against Glennon and Trubisky but the second half edge should be with Chicago, as they have Mark Sanchez and Connor Shaw, while Denver has Chad Kelly and Kyle Sloter.
I think the edge in this game is with Chicago with the odds at BetDSI at a pick, but I would probably prefer to just wait until the half and take Chicago for the second half, especially if I can get a good number at the best NFL sportsbooks.
