Cowboys vs. Giants TV Coverage: NBC
The Cowboys moved their win streak to 11 straight last Thursday night in Minnesota where they scored the 17-15 win against the Minnesota Vikings. In a game dominated by both defenses, Dak Prescott had one of his roughest games of the season throwing for just 139 yards on only 18 total attempts. One of those completions did however go for a eight yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant.
Ezekiel Elliott had another solid game rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown. The first year player is a shoe in to win Rookie of the Year honors, but he’s also now the odds on +250 favorite to take home regular season MVP honors as well. He’s single handedly transformed the Cowboys into one of the best offensive teams in the league, and deserves every accolade he wins down the line. NY limited him to just 51 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting, but will be without Jason Pierre Paul this time around.
The Giants had their six game win streak snapped in Pittsburgh last week. We hammered the Steelers in that game simply because Big Ben was at home, but mainly because the opposition faced over that winning streak was less than ideal. Needless to say, but Ben McAdoo’s troops got a major wakeup call in the 24-14 defeat that wasn’t nearly as close as the final 10 point spread indicates.
New York has only been defeated once at home this season, but the defeat came within the division in Week 3 when the Redskins went into MetLife Stadium and handed them a 29-27 defeat as 3.5 point underdogs. Since then, the GMEN have rattled off four straight wins and covered three of them against the closing pointspread. NY had dropped three straight at home to the Cowboys before securing the 27-20 win as 3 point chalk last season.
Matchup to Watch
The Giants possess the league’s No. 5 ranked rushing defense that gives up an average of just 91.4 yards per game at 3.6 yards per carry (No. 3). With Pierre-Paul now out of the equation, it will be up to Damon Harrison, Johnathan Hankins and Olivier Hernon to not get manhandled up front by what many deem the best front wall in all of professional football.
New York gave up 100+ yards to Le’Veon Bell last week. It marked the first time a running back went for over 100 yards against this unit all season. Even with it weakened up front, look for the Giants to step up their game and go all out to shut Zeke down.
Cowboys vs. Giants Free Picks
The writing has been on the wall for a couple weeks now. Dallas is going to lose a game. Likely tonight. Jason Garrett’s squad was lucky to pull out a win at Pittsburgh over a month ago. They saw their cover streak snapped on Thanksgiving, and then they eked out a grueling win at Minnesota last Thursday night but once again failed to cover the
NFL odds at BookMaker.eu.
Even with a loss here tonight, Dallas will still be in an excellent position to win the NFC and earn a first round bye. A slip up here by the Giants could prove to be costly with numerous teams hot on their trail. Eli Manning loves playing the Cowboys. Look for him to have another big night with Odell Beckham Jr. likely being the biggest benefactor. New York has covered each of its last four against +.500 road teams, and covered three of the last four times it was dogged in front of the hometown faithful. Look for them to snap Big D’s win streak and sweep the season series.
