Browns vs. Ravens TV Coverage: NFL Network
It’s once again been a sad state of affairs for the Cleveland Browns franchise. While the Cavaliers just won their first ever NBA title last season and the Indians almost snapped a 68 year World Series drought, the Browns once again bring up the rear of the division standings and have failed to tally a single win.
Linemakers don’t expect them to snap the losing streak in this game either with them installed heavy underdogs yet again. Cleveland has been lined an underdog in all nine of its games played to date by an average of 7.0 points per game. They’re 2-1 ATS the three times they received double digits with the lone cover coming in a 30-24 overtime loss at Miami as 10 point pups. The Browns have lost all five of their road games by an average of 10.4 points per game.
The Ravens parlayed their biggest scoring strike of the season into a crucial win over the Steelers last Sunday. Once Joe Flacco his Mike Wallace for a 95 yard touchdown pass at the end of the first quarter, the Ravens proceeded to score the games next 14 points and then held on in the fourth to secure the 21-14 outright win and cover as 3 point home underdogs.
The triumph moved John Harbaugh’s squad to 3-3 SU and ATS the last six time it was lined home underdogs, but only moved it to 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 overall home games. In fact, the last 10 times the Ravens were deemed the favored side at home by oddsmakers, they’ve gone a bankroll bursting 1-8-1 ATS as a near 6 point average sized favorite.
The Ravens have exhibited a poor run game all season long. Terrance West got 15 carries to lead Baltimore running backs against the Steelers last week, and only turned them into 21 yards and a 1.4 yards per carry average. The Browns own a poor overall defense, but it’s been a bit better defending the pass (No. 23) than the run (No. 31).
If it’s able to limit the Ravens on the ground like just about every other defense Baltimore has faced did, it will make life harder for a Ravens passing attack that’s also below average. Stop the run, and the Browns will hang. If not, this could turn into another Ravens romp.
Browns vs. Ravens Free Picks
It hasn’t mattered which offensive coordinator has called the offensive plays in Baltimore, the offense stinks! Per usual, the Ravens success or lack thereof ultimately hinges on the defenses ability to force turnovers and keep the opposing offense off the scoreboard. It worked last week against an out of rhythm Ben Roethlisberger, but the Browns actually outgained the Ravens in their Week 2 matchup 387-382 and played even in the turnover battle in the five point defeat.
Cleveland held a 20-0 lead in that game, so it knows it can compete with the Ravens should it bring its “A” game to the field. With the Ravens hemorrhaging money for their backers on the odds at BookMaker.eu when installed a home favorite, I’ll take the points with the visitors and hope they bring their best against a divisional opponent after getting embarrassed on their home field last week.
