Bills vs. Rams TV Coverage: CBS
The Bills resurgence over the last two weeks has been quite impressive. It started with the 33-18 blitzkrieg of Arizona whom it dominated en route to getting out to a 30-7 lead before the Cardinals put some garbage time points on the board. Carson Palmer was sacked five times and intercepted four times. Buffalo’s defense also recorded a fumble recovery to add to the impressive stat line.
That effort was followed up by an even bigger eye opener when the defense made life a living hell for the Patriots receivers, shut LeGarrette Blount down and snagged their second win at Gillette Stadium in their last three visits. Granted, Jacoby Brissett was under center, but Belichick was still roaming the sidelines. All of a sudden, the Bills sport the league’s No. 6 ranked scoring defense (17.0 PPG) that ranks No. 4 in defensive yards per point.
Right behind the Bills with a 20.0 defensive YPP average are the Rams who just like Buffalo have dramatically turned their season around. That speaks volumes about the job Fisher and his staff have done since getting shutout 28-0 in their embarrassing Week 1 loss to their division rivals. Save for allowing the Bucs to put 32 points on the board, LA gave up just 3 points to the Seahawks and another 13 to the Cardinals. They also knocked Carson Palmer out of the game.
Aaron Donald and company have certainly amped up their play, but the major standout has been Case Keenum whose seemingly gotten much better over the course of the last three weeks. After posting a 34.2 QB rating to in the opener, he logged a 85.3 versus Seattle, an 87.0 against the Bucs and a whopping 111.3 in their huge win in the desert last week. He’s built a nice rapport with Brian Quick, and if he continues to progress at the rate at which he is, it’s only a matter of time until Tavon Austin gets into the mix.
Each of these teams takes pretty good care of the football with the Bills turning it over 0.5 times per game and the Rams 1.2. On the flipside, each as also adept at forcing turnovers with the Rams ranked No. 4 with 2.2 turnovers forced per game and the Bills ranked No. 10 forcing 2.0 turnovers per game.
LA has forced five fumbles but the Bills are yet to put the pill on the ground. Whichever one of these teams ends up winning the turnover battle will likely go on to win with the defenses likely dictating the final outcome of this matchup.
Bills vs. Rams Free Picks
Neither of these teams have much of anything to look ahead to next week with the Bills scheduled to return home to face San Francisco and the Rams back out on the road to battle Detroit. Regardless of Tyrod Taylor and Keenum excelling the last couple weeks, I’m expecting the defenses to rule the day in this one.
The under cashed against the closing odds at BookMaker.eu in the Bills two played road games to date, and it’s 1-0 in the Rams lone home game. With both defenses limiting the damage on the scoreboard and each offense ranked in the bottom third of the league in total yardage, look for a low scorer to play out with the defenses leading the way.
Bills vs. Rams ATS Pick: Under 39.5 at BookMaker.eu
