Bills vs. Jets ATS Picks

NFL Football Betting Lines

The New York Jets will be out to exact a bit of revenge to kick off Week 9 festivities when they welcome the Buffalo Bills into town for a rematch of both squads’ season opener. Buffalo hits the road off tallying a second straight win since returning from its bye to keep the pressure on the AFC East leading New England Patriots. The Jets dropped a tough one at home to the Falcons to incur a third straight loss in which it’s gone 2-0-1 against the spread.

Sean McDermott’s squad continues to be one of the biggest surprise teams in the NFL this season. After scoring a thrilling comeback victory over Tampa Bay out of the bye, the Bills laid the smack down this past Sunday on an unsuspecting Oakland Raiders outfit that thought it has turned its season around with an unbelievable comeback win of their own the week prior. That hardly turned out to be the case.

Like its done all season, the defense simply shut the silver and black down on the ground limiting Jalen Richard and company to a measly 54 total yards on 14 combined carries. Buffalo enters Week 9 the owner of the league’s No. 3 ranked rush defense that’s giving up an average of 80.1 yards per game at 3.4 yards per carry ( No. 4 ). While the pass defense has been beatable in allowing over 265 yards per game, the unit’s nine interceptions are the third most in the game.

Jets’ fans figured this was going to be a lost season. That still might end up being the case, but at least Todd Bowles is marching a way more competitive team onto the gridiron than initially expected. If not for allowing Miami to pull an insane comeback win two weeks ago, the Jets would enter this Thursday night tilt 6-2 against the spread, and that’s flat-out insane for a team that entered the year with a 4.5-game season win total.

New York took a 17-16 lead with it into the fourth quarter of last week’s tilt with a struggling Atlanta outfit, but then proceeded to get outscored 9-3 in the final stanza to fall by a 25-20 final score. The five-point spread saw those that hit Atlanta early cover, but the Jets ended up coming out the pointspread victor after the game closed at 6.5 at kick-off. Gang Green is now a perfect 4-0 versus the linemakers as hosts.

Player to Watch

Josh McCown – The veteran had his worst showing of the season way back in Week 1 versus this Bills defense. He completed 26 of 39 passes for only 187 yards and was picked off twice. The effort saw him finish with a piss poor 56.3 QB rating. Since then, the Jets QB1 has been one of the more unheralded quarterbacks in the league, and he enters this tilt on fire having logged QB ratings of 101 or higher in three of the last four weeks. During that stretch, he’s thrown for 1,014 yards and a 9:4 TD/INT ratio. If New York is to have any shot of competing in this revenge bout, McCown must get the passing game in high gear.

Bills vs. Jets Picks

Not surprisingly, the Jets have gotten the initial look from the wagering public in early betting with -120 juice attached to the home team since the line first opened. They received the same amount of points when they hosted Buffalo last season, and went on to win that game by 20 points! The home team has gone on to win and cover at the top-rated sportsbooks in three of these division rival’s last four meetings, and I’m leaning towards New York hanging tough once again even though its suffering from a myriad of injuries right now. Buffalo’s managed just a pair of wins in its last seven trips to MetLife Stadium, and I have a feeling the home team has those that hit the under on their season win total sweating come the conclusion of this one.
