There's a point that Josh Rosen should probably just hang it up at UCLA. He's been nothing but a huge disappointment, at least in terms of wins and losses, and he isn't going to prove anything else at this point to NFL scouts before the NFL Combine.
Rosen left last week's loss to Washington with a finger injury. Though the Bruins never did expound on what was actually wrong with Rosen, we know that his finger was bloodied, and Jim Mora Jr. stated that he was, "pretty beat up over a lot of things."
Rosen has had zero help from his supporting cast this year. Receivers have dropped over seven percent of the passes thrown their way from Rosen, and his ground game still ranks just No. 110 in the nation. The Bruins are dead last in America against the run and are No. 118 in scoring defense as a result.
Utah has gone into full nosedive mode at this point. The Utes started off their season in fine form, beating up North Dakota, BYU, San Jose State and Arizona while covering all four games. Since then, the Utes were beaten by Stanford and USC by a combined four points, then they went into the tank and were beaten by Arizona State by 20 and an Oregon team playing without Justin Herbert by 21.
The good news is that Tyler Huntley is back from his injury that cost him a couple games early in October. The bad news is that Huntley hasn't played well since his return, barely completing 55 percent of his passes, averaging around five yards per pass attempt and throwing two touchdowns against four interceptions. He has to be better than that to get the Utes to a bowl game this year for sure.
Betting Trends of Note
As if this game needed to get any more confusing for handicappers, the road team has covered each of the last five duels.
Then again, UCLA has failed to cover each of its last five spreads on the road, including getting blasted in each of their four road games this year.
It's not that Rosen and the offense haven't done the job on offense. This defense? It's been something else. The Bruins have awful overall numbers on the defensive side, but just taking their road splits make them seem comical by Power Five standards.
We grant you the fact that these four road games to date have come against Memphis, Stanford, Arizona and Washington, all of whom have garnered more than a few Top 25 votes this week.
But the stats are telling from these games:
Memphis: 560 yards, 48 points allowed
Stanford: 553 yards, 58 points allowed
Arizona: 605 yards, 47 points allowed
Washington: 442 yards, 44 points allowed

For our money, if Rosen is out of the fold as we expect him to ultimately be, the Bruins are as good as dead, and they won't win another game this year. We'd lay three touchdowns with the Utes if we had to against a Rosen-less UCLA team.
Fortunately, we don't aren't going to have to. The top online sportsbooks are sure to give us a spot where we can lay the lumber, even if Rosen is out of the fold. At least it looks like Utah is still trying for the most part this season. We can't say the same about UCLA.
