Baylor’s program is in disarray, still battling off field issues from last year’s sex scandal, losing starting quarterback Seth Russell for the year, losing their last six games and now find themselves without a head coach. The Bears motivation for this game is a real concern.

BAYLOR BEARS 6-6ATS: 3-9
Baylor needs to hit the restart button. After last year’s issues with the sex scandal that rocked the Big 12, the Bears still had high expectations coming into this year and were ranked as high as No. 8, before everything fell apart. They started out 6-0, then an upset loss to Texas on a last second field goal and they never won another ballgame, losing their last six games. It didn’t help that starting quarterback Seth Russell was lost for the year in their loss to Oklahoma, but they really need a fresh start heading into 2017. Their defense can’t stop anybody and their confidence has to be as low as it can get. Making matters worse, is they don’t have a head coach for this game after firing Jim Grobe.
BOISE STATE BRONCOS 10-2ATS: 3-9
The Broncos are again a top notch team that goes unnoticed because of their strength of schedule and playing in the Mountain West Conference. Led by sophomore quarterback Brett Rypien their gun slinging, high octane, spread offense is tough to defend and really no one they faced this year had an answer for it. Running back Jeremy McNichols is a touchdown machine and receivers Thomas Sperbeck and Cedrick Wilson are both efficient and dangerous. Overall, Boise is a good team, not a great team but a team that doesn’t have many weaknesses and no matter who they play, they are a tough matchup.
PREDICTION: Both teams struggled against the spread going 3-9, so something’s got to give. You know Boise will be out to prove they belong in a bigger conference and Baylor has a lot of questions to be answered heading into next year. If the Bears don’t come ready to play, Boise will blow them out. The spread seems high at 7.5 but the Broncos will blow out a wounded Baylor team and hand them their seventh consecutive loss. Boise State wins, 42-24.
The Baylor Bears meet the Boise State Broncos in the 2016 Motel 6 Cactus Bowl on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Chase Field in Tempe, Arizona will host the game and ESPN will televise the game live.
