Louisville vs. Florida State TV Coverage: ESPN
College football isn't for the faint of heart, and UL and FSU are both living examples of that. Both teams were in the top 10 in the land at one point or another this year, yet now, both are just hoping to figure out how to reach bowl eligibility to make it so the season isn't a complete and utter waste.
The Cardinals hit their low last week against Boston College at home. Louisville had absolutely no business letting the worst team in the ACC march into their house and walk out with a win, but that's exactly what happened in a dramatic 45-42 finish.
It was yet another game where Lamar Jackson went off statistically but didn't have the help around him to make it stand up. Jackson threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns and led the team in rushing once again with 180 yards and three scores. That said, with over 500 yards of offense and five total touchdowns from their quarterback, the Cardinals couldn't slow down a miserable BC offense that can't get out of its own way.
When you A.J. Dillon, a freshman who had never had a single carry in his career for more than 18 yards, march into your house and go off for 39 carries, 272 yards and four touchdowns, you have a serious problem.
At least Florida State can say that it hasn't had a miserable loss yet. The defeat to N.C. State is looking better and better as the Wolfpack keep winning, and obviously, Miami and Alabama are still two of the best teams in the land.
Still, Jimbo Fisher's offense looks like a fish out of water every week at this point. Even in last week's 17-10 win over Duke, the Noles had to use just a couple good drives to rally off of for the entire game.
The difference between the Duke game and the clash against Miami the week prior is that the defense stood up in the end and made just enough plays to get out of Durham victorious.
The Last Meeting
Need we remind you what happened the last time these two teams met last year? The Cardinals had their statement game under Bobby Petrino, running FSU off the field in a 63-20 game that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.
It was Jackson's Heisman moment for sure, as he threw for 216 yards and rushed for 146 more, totaling five touchdowns on the day. The Seminoles had zero answers for anything the Cards were doing on offense, and their own offense was a disaster from the start.
Things got so bad in the second half that J.J. Cosentino was playing for much of the garbage time. Now, Cosentino can't even get on the field with Deondre Francois sidelined for the year with a torn patellar tendon.
Louisville vs. Florida State Free Picks
Florida State doesn't have much left to play for this year, but it's showing a lot of heart in the games that it's playing in spite of its 2-3 start. The Noles have yet to cover a spread this season, though it should be noted that all of the top college football sportsbook did refund all bets after the 7-point win at Duke last week.
All of that is going to go by the wayside on Saturday afternoon. The Seminoles should be full of life and energy for this one, as this is not only a chance to exact some revenge on the Cards while they're down, but they can put their first home win of the season together as well. We don't think this game is going to be particularly close.
