Kansas has lost 43 consecutive games on the road. It has been beaten in 37 consecutive Big XII road games. Of those 37 road games in the Big XII, exactly three have been decided by single digits. The average final score in those road games? 43-13.
TCU is sporting a 6-0 record and would clearly be in the College Football Playoff if the field was selected today. The Horned Frogs have only played one game decided by single-digits this season, and the game against West Virginia was far more lopsided than 31-24 would suggest.
In other words, even with as crazy as the 2017 season has been to date, we're going to cross off that '6' and write in a '7' in the win column for TCU right now.
It's not like there's really anything for the Frogs to be napping about; they play Iowa State next week and have two weeks to prepare for their home game with Texas. Their hardest games, outside of a trip to Norman to face Oklahoma, are all behind them at this point, and this should be the part of the schedule where things go into cruise control.
We just don't know if Kansas actually has the ability to stop anybody in the Big XII. Take out that win against SEMO and what's left is a team that has averaged allowing 519.2 yards and 50.6 points per game. It hasn't mattered if we're talking about Texas Tech (65 points) or Iowa State (45 points); the results have been pathetic no matter the offense on the other side of the field.
This is music to the ears of Kenny Hill, who has to be thinking that this is his shot to put together a game that could put him into the discussion to win the Heisman Trophy this year.
We're not sure what Hill has to do in order to get into that discussion. He has 1,450 passing yards and 10 touchdowns and has another 102 yards and two scores on the ground (plus a receiving touchdown!). The numbers aren't the flashiest, but he's clearly the best player on one of the best teams in America. Perhaps a six-touchdown showing against Kansas can vault into him the Heisman discussion for the first time, a fact that won't be lost on one of the flashier players in college football.

These spreads in these Kansas games are just getting absurd. This is the first time this season that the top 10 online sportsbooks have all agreed to make the Jayhawks 30+ point underdogs. KU was a 30+ point dog last year three times. It lost to West Virginia by 27 and covered and failed to cover as 39.5-point pups to Oklahoma (56-3) and as 33.5-point underdogs to Baylor (49-7).
For as hard as it is to choke on this much chalk, we don't see any other options. Gary Patterson knows that style points matter in the eyes of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, especially after he felt like his team was screwed over in the first year of the playoff. If he has a chance to hang 60 on the Jayhawks, you can bet that he's going to do so and not think twice about it. These big spreads are hard to forecast, but we think this is a spot for TCU to open up a massive can on the hapless Jayhawks.
