Georgia vs. Auburn TV Coverage: CBS
The Bulldogs might not be the flashiest team in America, but they're certainly still finding ways to win games. At 9-0, they've deserved being considered one of the top teams in America, yet no one really believes they're going to make it through the rest of this schedule unscathed. This game against Auburn at Jordan-Hare is the first big problem, but traveling to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech won't be easy, nor will the SEC Championship Game against presumably Alabama.
The Dawgs' streak of five straight games scoring 40+ points and seven straight scoring 30+ points is over with after beating South Carolina 24-10. Still, it was a nice game for freshman Jake Fromm. He went 16-for-22 for 196 yards and two touchdowns on a day that much of the rest of his team failed him.
Still, it was never a game that was in serious doubt. The Bulldogs never trailed and ultimate had the game put away by the end of the third quarter.
Auburn crushed Texas A&M 42-27 in College Station last Saturday, a second straight road victory against a fairly dangerous SEC West team. The fact that the Tigers got through these three roadies with a 2-1 record isn't the end of the world.
Now come three home games at the end of the regular season, and if the Tigers can win out, they're going to have a legitimate chance to play for the National Championship. Still, beating Georgia and Alabama is no small feat, let alone having a rematch with UGA in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.
The Tigers have scored at least 42 points in five of their last six games. It's the first time we've seen a Gus Malzahn offense really play this well since the team played for the National Championship in 2013.
16.9 – The number of points per game Auburn is conceding this year.
We don't normally throw out a dull number like this one in our "Key Stat" section, but this is an interesting stat in and of itself.
This Auburn defense wasn't expected to be elite this season, but with 307.2 yards and 16.9 points per game allowed, it's hard to say that this is anything shy of top-notch.
Jeff Holland is crushing it this year on the defensive line, and no one can block him. With eight sacks to his credit already this year, Holland is one of the best defensive linemen in the nation. He didn't have a sack last week against Texas A&M, but he had three quarterback hurries and effectively wrecked this game.
Georgia vs. Auburn Free Picks
This is a really dangerous game for Georgia, but most are going to assume it's in for a real war. This was a team that was a dog at Notre Dame and was barely favored against Mississippi State. Now, it's just barely a favorite at all of the top college football sportsbooks against the Tigers.
It's tough to think that Fromm is going to be able to come on the road and win at Jordan-Hare, but we think this UGA squad is much different than the average squad and is deserving of being the No. 1 team in America.
Nick Chubb and Sony Michel might make up the top running back tandem in America, and that's saying something considering the fact that Kerryon Johnson, Kam Martin and Kamryn Pettway are going to be on the other side of the field for Auburn.
The Georgia defense is set to prove that it's one of the best units in America. It's the biggest game in Kirby Smart's career, and he's set to show that he's one of the top coaches in the land.
