AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl - Preview, Picks and Prediction

College Football Bowl Picks

The Kansas State Wildcats face the Texas A-M Aggies in the Texas Bowl. The Big 12 - SEC battle is set for primetime, December 28 on ESPN. It’s a matchup between two teams heading in different directions. K-State won four of their last five to get to 8-4, while the Aggies lost four of their last six to finish at 8-4. It should be an interesting game between two well coached teams that both try to get their ninth win of the year. Texas A-M is a small favorite of -2,5 points with a game total of 56.5. The Aggies get to play in their home state and NRG Stadium will be rocking.

ATS - 5-7

Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder is a legend in Manhattan and year after year he wins games with limited talent. Since his return as Kansas State’s head coach 2009, the Wildcats have managed to make a bowl every year except for 2009 and that bowl streak continues this year. The Cats got off to a rough start by losing their opener to Stanford, followed with losses to West Virginia and West Virginia that left them at 1-2 in conference play and looking for answers. Snyder calmed the team and they went on to win four of their last five to finish at 8-4 on the year. However, K-State has failed miserably in the bowl games during Snyder’s return with a 1-5 record and will have their hands full playing in the state of Texas facing the Aggies.

ATS - 4-8

It appeared that the Aggies were one of the top teams in the country at the halfway point of the season. They were 6-0 and on their way, even after a loss to No. 1 ranked Alabama, they still were in good shape to make a push at a high ranking. Then the wheels fell off. They lost their starting quarterback, Trevor Knight in the Mississippi State game and have never been the same, losing four of their final six ballgames. They are a team deep in talent but always seem to underachieve under head coach Kevin Sumlin.

PREDICTION: This is a great matchup for a non-BCS game, maybe the best. The Aggies get to play a few hours from their campus and should be ready to play well. The absent of their starting quarterback will make it difficult to score points on a Kansas State defense that is one of the best in the country. Texas A-M has more talent but K-State will keep it close by not making any mistakes and playing Bill Snyder football. The Wildcats will play it close to the vest and their ball control style of play will chew up the clock and make the UNDER the play. Bet the UNDER 56.5.

The Kansas State Wildcats and Texas A-M Aggies meet in the 2016 AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas will host the game and ESPN will televise the game live.
