The Wizz only check in with the No. 8 ranked offensive efficiency and back that up with the No. 18 ranked defensive efficiency. Though neither stat sticks out as being impressive, Scott Brooks’ squad enters play this week the third best team in the East with a 45-28 record and trails both the Cavs and Celtics by 2.5 games for the best record in the conference. That in a nutshell shows just how bad the East has once again been this season.
The Southeast Division leaders hit the road winners of three straight after taking down Atlanta and Brooklyn before opening this road trip with a solid 127-115 win and cover at Cleveland. They went off the board in the game as 6 point pups, but controlled the game right from the outset in getting out to a 40-26 first quarter lead and never looking back. The win moved John Wall and his mates to 16-18 straight up and 16-17-1 against the spread as visitors.
The Lakers continue to trot one of the worst defenses onto the hardwood with every passing game. This is a unit that concedes an average of 112.3 points per game and a 48.3 percent field goal percentage. Each ranks out as No. 28 and No. 30 respectively. On top of all that, the defense also allows an average of 111.2 points per 100 possessions. Not surprisingly, that also checks in as the worst defensive efficiency the league has to offer.
Winning games is not a priority of this franchise right now. In fact, you can saw the main priority is the complete opposite. Only Brooklyn has fewer wins than them right now, and the Suns are right in back of them. In order to get as many ping pong balls as possible so as to guarantee themselves one of the top picks in the NBA Draft, this team has to more or less lose out and hope the Suns can actually win a couple games when Devin Booker goes off over the next couple weeks. Operation tank the season should continue in this one.
The Wizards have been lighting the scoreboard up recently having surpassed the century mark in four straight games and averaging 115.5 points in those contests. LA’s defense has been laughable all season, so it’s highly likely it concedes a lofty total to the Wizz in this matchup as well. Washington will likely be best served looking to expose a Lakers defense ranked No. 25 in defending the 3-ball. Look for Bradley Beal, Otto Porter Jr. , and the recently acquired Bojan Bogdanovic to make hay from deep in this one.

Washington has won each of these team’s last four skirmishes and covered the closing betting odds at BookMaker.eu in three of them. You have to go all the way back to the middle of February to find the last time the Lakers gave up less than 100 points. That won’t be happening tonight! Regardless of the fact that Washington has a much tougher tilt in this arena against the Clippers tomorrow night, look for them to make it a point to extend their win streak and take it to a hapless Lakers outfit that by no means should even make this one interesting after scoring a worthless home win against the T-Wolves.
