Picks

Justin Thomas -165 vs. Webb Simpson

JT just couldn’t hit greens last week and Riviera is not the place to try and scramble. It is different this week at Club de Golf Chapultepec where you can get away with missing some greens. Thomas has finished in a tie for 5th, 2nd and 9th in his last three in this event. Simpson won in Phoenix, but hasn’t played since. I don’t know that this course fits his game and I like Thomas in this matchup.

Abraham Ancer -145 vs. Brandt Snedeker

The best Mexican player in the world is Ancer and he looks primed to have a big week. He comes in playing well with a second at PGA West and he tied for 6th in Saudi Arabia. I don’t think Snedeker has the distance to win on a course like this one in Mexico and I think Ancer is the better player. I will lay the small price in this matchup.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello -120 vs. Christiaan Bezuidenhout

RCB actually was tied for the most fairways hit last week at Riviera and he finished well in a tie for 17th. He has played well in Mexico with a tie for 3rd and a tie for 19th. I think he is the clear choice in this matchup and we get him at a short price.

Erik Van Rooyen -135 vs. Francesco Molinari

I think it is time to go against Molinari no matter what matchup is posted on the board. Molinari is simply in awful form right now and there is no reason to think he turns the corner in Mexico. I will take Van Rooyen in this matchup.

Robert MacIntyre -120 vs. Branden Grace

MacIntyre missed the cut in Abu Dhabi last month with a wrist injury, but he proved he was healthy by posting a top 10 in Dubai. MacIntyre has held his own in PGA Tour events and he ranks well in Stokes Gained off the tee.  Grace has not played well in his last two events, so I will take MacIntyre in this matchup.
