Bryson DeChambeau and Webb Simpson are the top two betting choices to win this week's Rocket Mortgage Classic, but there are a lot of players who could be in the mix. Let’s look at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic and golf picks.

The PGA Tour has had a great return over the past few weeks with most of the top players in the world playing each week.  That ends this week as there are only two top 10 golfers in this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. Bryson DeChambeau and Webb Simpson are the top two betting choices, but there are a lot of players who could be in the mix, including Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama and Rickie Fowler. Let’s look at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic and golf picks.

Course: Detroit Golf Club (North)

This course is a par 72 that measures 7,334 yards. The North Course was upgraded in 2019 for the PGA Tour. The course played really easy last year, so organizers have made the rough longer this year and the par 5’s are also longer. Fairways are easy to hit, but there are 87 bunkers on the course.

All other players are listed at odds of 100/1 or more or they are part of the field.

Bryson DeChambeau 6-1

I know that DeChambeau has finished in the top 10 in all three tournaments since the PGA Tour returned, but I am not taking him at this low number. DeChambeau’s putting still isn’t that great and putting is a huge key on this course. This could be the week for DeChambeau, as the field is weaker than the past three weeks, but I just can’t take him at these odds.

Value Plays

Patrick Reed 14-1

I was really hoping for odds of 20-1 or more on Reed, but the field simply isn’t as strong as in previous weeks. Reed had been struggling with the putter but he seemed to find something on Sunday, as he shot a 64 and started holing putts. If he continues hot with the putter I give him a good chance to win this week. Keep in mind that he finished fifth in this event a year ago.

Sungjae Im 22-1

The oddsmakers are not doing us any favors this week, as I was hoping for 30-1 or more on Im. He has struggled the past couple of weeks, but he is very capable of winning this week. He won the Honda Classic earlier this year and he was good last year in this event with three rounds in the 60’s. I will take Im at these odds.

Tony Finau 30-1

I am a little surprised Finau is listed with odds this high. This course should suit his game, as the fairways are wide and accuracy is not a huge concern. He has finished in the top 10 on similar courses like Firestone and TPC River Highlands. Finau is strong on shots gained on approach and that is a key stat this week. I will take Finau at odds of 30-1.

Brandt Snedeker 60-1

If putting is a big key this week then you have to give Snedeker a look. He is capable of getting hot with the putter and contending. He finished in a tie for fifth in this event a year ago. Snedeker has done well on Donald Ross courses in the past and he could be in the mix again this week.
