Week 15 Against the Grain Picks
This column is going against the grain and in the NFL, going against the public is normally successful. We went 3-5 with the plays in Week 14 to take the record to 41-38 on the season. Let’s look at Week 15 Against the Grain Picks.

When you bet the NFL, it is easy to go along with the crowd and the popular plays each week. The problem with doing that is that you are not going to consistently make money. There are a number of popular plays each week in the NFL and we are going to be going against those plays. This column is going against the grain and in the NFL, going against the public is normally successful. We went 3-5 with the plays in Week 14 to take the record to 41-38 on the season. I advised caution last week, as it was a weird week and that caution was warranted, but this week we get back to normal. Let’s look at Week 15 Against the Grain Picks.

Week 15 Against the Grain Picks

Denver Broncos +6 vs. Buffalo Bills

The Bills are a hot team and getting a lot of love from the public, but now they face a dangerous road game in Denver against the Broncos. The Broncos are at least capable of making this interesting if the Bills suffer a letdown. The question is whether the Denver defense can stop Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense. The public is all over the Bills and that means we take the Broncos as we go against the grain.

Green Bay Packers -8 vs. Carolina Panthers

This is the one play this week that is weird. I have no idea why the public is backing Carolina this week.  The Packers are in a letdown spot, but it may not matter, as Green Bay’s offense has been unstoppable for much of the season. It is hard to see the Panthers scoring enough points to keep this one close.  The public is on the Panthers, so we’ll lay the points and take the Packers.

Houston Texans +7.5 at Indianapolis Colts

The public wants nothing to do with Houston and they are starting to back the Colts on a regular basis. Indianapolis looks like a playoff team but the AFC is loaded with good teams and the Colts have no margin for error. This could be a dangerous game for the Colts, but Houston simply doesn’t look like they are any good. We’ll go against the grain and take the Texans plus the points.

Minnesota Vikings -3 vs. Chicago Bears

This game is a total toss-up but the public is taking the Bears plus the points. The winner of this game stays alive in the NFC Playoff race, while the loser is done. It is hard to have confidence in either of these teams, but the public likes Chicago and that means we take Minnesota.

Dallas Cowboys +3 vs. San Francisco 49ers

This is another game that could go either way. The public is taking San Francisco as a road favorite, although it is hard to see why. The 49ers are not a good team without all of their injured players and Nick Mullens has not proven he can win in the NFL. The Cowboys are definitely nothing special, but they are at home and getting points. We’ll go against the grain and take Dallas plus the points.

New York Jets +17.5 at Los Angeles Rams

The last three games on the list for this week are no surprise. The Jets are seemingly on this list every week, as the public goes against them on a regular basis. It is hard to argue, as New York has shown nothing for most of the season. This is an extremely high number, but the public still wants nothing to do with the Jets. We go against the public and take New York plus the points.

New York Giants +5 vs. Cleveland Browns

The public is taking the Browns minus the points on Sunday night. The Giants may not have Daniel Jones and they are coming off a bad loss to Arizona, while the Browns lost a tough one against the Ravens. The public likes the Cleveland offense and they are backing the Browns. We go against the public and take the Giants plus the points.

Cincinnati Bengals +12.5 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The public is taking the Steelers on Monday night and laying the points. The Bengals are the home team, but they have not looked good since losing Joe Burrow. The Steelers have not played well lately, but the public is expecting Pittsburgh to get it together this week. We go against the public and take the Bengals plus the points.
