Baseball picks for this weekend are ready to roll with MLB picks for Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5.  We are coming off a 4-2 weekend last week with the weekend MLB picks. This weekend’s MLB action features a full slate of games on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. The two FOX regional games on Saturday have the Angels at the Phillies and the Cardinals at the Cubs. The Cardinals and Cubs will also get the spotlight on Sunday night on ESPN. Let’s look at weekend MLB picks for Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5.

Saturday MLB Picks

The Giants visit the Marlins on Saturday and it should be an excellent pitching matchup with Logan Webb going up against Pablo Lopez. Webb has been solid all season with a 5-1 record and a 3.52 ERA, while Lopez has been a pleasant surprise for the Marlins this season, as he is 4-2 with a 1.83 ERA. This has all the looks of a pitching duel, so I’ll take the game to go under the total.

The late game on Saturday is a matchup between the Mets and Dodgers and the probable pitching matchup has David Peterson going against Walker Buehler. Peterson is 2-0 this season with an ERA of 3.03. He usually doesn’t go deep into games, averaging about 5 innings per start. Buehler is normally excellent in every start, but he didn’t pitch well last time out against the Pirates. I expect Buehler to be extremely focused in this one and I think he will be in top form. I’ll take the Dodgers and the game under the total.

Sunday MLB Picks

An underrated pitching matchup on Sunday could be the one between the Diamondbacks and Pirates. The Diamondbacks are expected to send Zac Gallen who is 4-0 with a 2.32 ERA, while the Pirates go with Zach Thompson who has an ERA of more than five. If you look closer on Thompson you’ll find that his ERA is bloated because of a couple of bad outings. He is definitely capable of shutting down this Arizona lineup. I’ll go under the total in this game on Sunday.

The Nationals visit the Reds on Sunday and this could be a rare occasion where the Reds get a win. The Nationals send the dumpster fire that is Patrick Corbin to the mound. He has been a disaster this season for Washington, as he comes into this game at 1-8 with an ERA of 6.96. It is unbelievable just how bad he has been this season, but the Nationals are paying him a ton of money and they are hoping he figures things out. The Reds are expected to send Luis Castillo who has a 2-2 record with an ERA of just over three. This looks like a good spot to take the Reds at home.

The Boston Red Sox visit the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon and the probable pitching matchup has Rich Hill going against Frankie Montas. Hill hasn’t been anything special for the Red Sox this season with a 1-3 record and an ERA of nearly five, but he has been much better on the road with an ERA of less than three. Montas has been the hard luck pitcher for the A’s, as his ERA is 3.20 but his record is just 2-5. This has the looks of a low scoring game, so I will go under the total.

The ESPN Sunday night game has the Cardinals visiting the Cubs and the probable pitching matchup has Adam Wainwright going against Justin Steele. Wainwright has been pitching well with an ERA of 2.75 but his overall record is just 5-4. He normally gives the Cardinals six or seven innings and gives up three runs or less. Steele has been up and down for the Cubs this season with and ERA of more than five. The Cardinals are definitely the better team and they have the edge on the mound on Sunday night. I’ll lay the price and take St. Louis in this one.
