NCAA March Madness Basketball Predictions
March Madness Basketball Odds - 2017 NCAA Tournament Predictions
For the teams who are favored to win the National Championship in college basketball, there's no doubt they're going to be in the NCAA Tournament at this point. There are a good 30 or so teams who are going to enter the month of April with zero doubt that they're dancing. History suggests that one of these teams is going to win it all when push comes to shove, though of late, we've had history bucked a couple times by Connecticut. The Huskies were at minimum not sure of their place in the field when they went into both their 2011 and 2014 conference tournaments, and they came out of nowhere to win the National Championship. Is there a team out there who can replicated UConn?
The one thing we don't have this year is a consensus choice to win the National Championship as we've had in the past with great North Carolina and Kentucky teams. Duke is the favorite right now to win it all at 7 to 1, but there isn't much of a gap between the Blue Devils and the rest of the field.
Gonzaga is set at +850, but it has a bit of history working against it. Teams that are undefeated in the regular season and conference tournament rarely go on to win the National Championship. Kentucky's awesome team from a couple years ago came up short, and the Wichita State team back in 2014 that was the last unbeaten mid-major heading into the March Madness didn't even clear the first week of the dance.
The defending National Champions are coming from Villanova, and the Wildcats have probably a better shot to cut down the nets in Glendale this year than they did last season when they went on that epic run to the title that included Kris Jenkins' buzzer-beating three at the gun in the most electrifying title game ever. Jay Wright's crew is the fifth choice to win the championship at 10 to 1, though it should be noted that the last team to win the NCAA Tournament in consecutive years was Florida in 2006 and 2007. Before that, you have to go back to 1991 and 1992 when Duke did it. Winning the title once is hard. Repeating is virtually impossible.
